My daughter has a 504 and one of the accommodations is that she gets a paper test as opposed to doing it on the computer. I was just notified today by the ESE Specialist that Broward County Public Schools are no longer issuing paper tests and that she has to take them on the computer. Seems odd. How can I verify this change? Thanks.RM

Call an IEP meeting and have it written on the IEP that she needs to do paper tests because taking them on the computer will be too difficult for her and this will effect her ability of being successful. Tell them this is a specific accommodation that meets her needs and without it she will not be successful at meeting her present curriculum.

She has a 504, not an IEP. It is already listed as one of the accommodations on the 504. They are removing it. I'm trying to confirm if they can really do this and what is the reason for the removal. Subject: Re: eliminating a 504 accommodationTo: sList Date: Wednesday, November 28, 2012, 1:03 PM

Some test are mandatory now on computer but the accommodation is still valid. The ESE has to request the authorization to the state. Send an email to the ESE Director and state compliance requesting the procedure in this cases. Sent from my iPadOmayra Matamoros, MHSA, JD
