I am wondering about CA19-9 and am looking for input from anyone. My CA 19-9 was 20 in Janauary and has been climbing and was 78 when I got my stint out on the 7th of June. My Dr did brushings of my common bile duct and they came back "normal with no malignant cells identified". The Dr's thoughts at this time is to wait and see and do another CA19-9 in 2 months. Does this sound like a normal approach to this or do I need to be more proactive and push for more tests?

Thanks

Coincidentally, they have been monitroing my little boys cA-19 tumor marker which can be elevated if there is cancer in the ducts. I believe the normal range is under 35 at least for children. Tyler's was 97 and has increased to 117. They say that this can be eleavated because of inflammation and that they are not too concerned at this time. We are re-testing in two-three months. They say that when cancer is present it normally is in the high 100's......That was our experience anyway.. Hope it helps.....
