Guest guest
Hi Zoe, We've been using ALA in 50 mg tablets from Vitamin Shoppe (Vitamin Shoppe brand) or from iHerb (Source Naturals brand). I've found both brands of tablets easy to halve or quarter with a razor blade or pill cutter. Vitamin Shoppe has pretty good sales, and coupon codes can be found on Google. iHerb's prices are generally good too, and we buy a lot of our supportive supplements from them. I've read where people look for brands with less fillers. I definitely prefer tablets over dividing the powder in capsules. in Illinois
Guest guest
Oh, I've also used Doctor's Best from iHerb, capsules in 35 mg (no dividing for the kids). M.
Guest guest
TK--- if you are going to start low which I recommend buy 25mg capsules and split them in equal parts in other capsules. > > I am now ready to start ALA and am wondering if it makes any difference whether I get tablets or capsules or what brand. > > I assume that the cheapest way to go is to get 100 mg tablets and split them. Is that correct? > > I also am assuming that splitting the capsules would be problematic because I would either have to deal with an acid powder or put it inside of other capsules. > > And advice??? > > Thanks. > > Zoe > >

I've been splitting capsules for years without any problems, although I do split them while I'm on a round so that getting the powder on my fingers is OK. I pour the ALA powder into empty capsules and add vit C powder. I have noticed small differences in brands. I like Biochem and Natural Factors.
