Guest guest
Sure, , I'll try. The eld extract we got from beyond a century is 250 mgs per 1/2 scoop. I think I said it was loose powder. Btw, it smells heavenly. We gave, at first, 1 scoop or 500 mgs spread over 4 days, or 12 capsules, giving 3 capsules per day, so that would be about 40 some mgs 3 x a day. But be careful. One day I had her unexpectedly and because we were in a hurry to go somewhere I gave her one whole capsule to swallow all at once. That night she broke out with the most horrible looking chicken pox kind of rash on her back which was so itchy she could not sleep that night. My dd was not terribly happy :-) I have read that is is good for the varicella vax, which unfortunately she did get. We now give 1 scoop over 3 days or 500 mgs divided into 9 capsules. Hoping this makes sense. I do know that Andy has recommended elderberry extract for viral issues. We had only known this was available through Sambucol which is very expensive and has to be dosed seperately and we are notoriously bad at giving anything other than vitamins and clo. If you try it, let us know how you get along. Re: /was: Infection and immunity - Nell > >> >> Recently we tried elderberry extract powder and that has been hugely >> successful. It is powerful stuff. Guest guest
Just an fyi on the elderberry extract, the normal dose for adults would be 500 mgs spread throughout the day. I think I remember Andy saying in his book to double the dose if you use the powder, but again this is for an adult. In the research I did the HIV people were using it at 1000 mgs per day. There were also some reports where they used the eld. extract with glucosamine and chrondrotin (really bad attempt at spelling this here). I am not sure what the other things were for but the reports are that the viral loads did decrease substantially. We're glad we didn't double it here as she would have been one giant chicken pox. Thinking the dose for kids is different and that ours, for sure, and others are full of viruses thanks to God knows what is in the vaxes.
