Guest guest
Hi, Everyone...I've finally gotten more labs to add and hoping desperately that someone can now help me sort out what I need to do from here... I'm going to post clips from previous posts about this so all the info will be in this 1 email... Quick summary - I've dealt with adrenal fatigue and thyroid issues for years now. Have been on HC for adrenal support and alternating between NT and Cytomel depending on how my RT3 ratio is. Most recently about 2 months ago my RT3 had gone up again so I'm now back on T3 only. Am currently taking 20 mg. of HC and 75 of T3 per day. In the past I was on Florinef for low aldosterone but eventually got off it due to bad swelling. Main symptoms are EXTREME weakness and sleepiness, fatigue, fibromyalgia symptoms - muscle tightness and pain, headaches, etc. New symptoms that have recently developed are vertigo - positional. When I lay down or sit up after laying down or bend over I feel like I'm being slung off a ride that's spinning. It only lasts about 5-10 seconds. Also, sweating again when I shouldn't sweat (having done nothing to cause it or VERY light activity like just standing a few minutes). Also - have had BOTH hamstrings " pull " or whatever in the past 2 months - not doing ANY exercise so nothing to cause this. Left leg hurt for 2 months - back of knee and around to the front and whole hamstring area. Now the right leg is doing the same thing. I've also noticed my upper arm muscles feel VERY " sore " and weak - they hurt REALLY badly like I've exercised like crazy - but I've done nothing! It's like all my muscles all over are somehow weakening - ? Is all this hypo-related or could something else be going on? As for my labs, I'd requested Aldosterone and for some reason they didn't request that one... I was low a couple of years ago (4 I think) - B-12 was high - I'd been taking 5000 mg. a day and dropped to 2000 now. Vit. D was low so I've started taking that again as well. The ferritin being 124 was weird - I'd always tended to run low - 37 at one time - Val thinks that was a false normal and that I need a full iron panel to know for sure. I'm going to be requesting any additional labs when I go, so if there's anything else you feel I need to get, let me know! I'm already on HC so can't do saliva right now. My initial saliva was done 2 years ago and it wasn't " REALLY bad " but Val did feel HC would help, which it did. But I've NEVER been able to get everything balanced and gave up for a while, was back down to just 10 HC. AfterI got these last labs, I switched from 2.5 grains of Erfa to T3 only and upped the HC to 15... Here are the labs from March: Quest Labs - 3/31/10Vit. D: 19 (20-100) TSH: <.01 (.40-4.5) T3, Free: 289 (230-420) T3, Reverse: 33 (11-32)Thyroid Peroxidase Antibodies: <10 (<35)Ferritin: 124 (10-232) Vit. Being that it's now 7 weeks of T3-only, I'm sure all the T4 is depleted so I'm thinking I must be terribly hypo...? I feel HORRID - just SOOOO sleepy - feel like I'm fighting off a strong sedative all day long. :(Now here are the most recent labs which included the full iron panel and sex hormones. The only thing the doctor said was that progesterone and DHEA were " very low " - but I can see my Aldosterone is awful again, too... What do these iron levels mean? My ferritin has always run on the low side, so for it to be up twice now is interesting... Guest guest
I'm totally a newbie, but your rt3 to ft3 ratio is about like mine. Yours is actually a little worse than mine. Guest guest
Thanks, Darla...To answer your questions... Not supplementing sea salt but will start! Curious what Florinef did to you? I mainly had fluid retention that wouldn't go away no matter what I did and was gaining weight like crazy... I do still have some though and could try again with maybe just 1/4 of the dose if any would help at all. Not sure what you mean about the aldosterone test not being good? Is there a different kind?! This is the same one I did 2 years ago when it showed " 4 " and Val said it was " in the dirt " so I was assuming that " 2 " meant even more in the dirt I didn't know what range to post for the hormones since I have no idea what " phase " I'm in due to hysterectomy. But it looks like Follicular phase would be 11-212 and Mid-Cycle would be 18-480. The other 2 phases just say < 247 and < 27. Mine was 55. Does this help with knowing whether I'm low in Estrogen as well? I know I *used* to be estrogen-dominant - would the estrogen-progesterone ratio in my labs still indicate this? Or is it in balance now? Just wondering if I'm trying to go into menopause and need to replace all 3 hormones at this point...? BTW, is there by chance a good list somewhere in the FAQs or Files that shows the REAL preferred values for labs for those of us with these thyroid-adrenal issues?! That would sure be helpful. I'm going to " cut " my original post but leave the labs for reference for responses...Thanks again so much!- Jacki Your temps show that you are not on enough thyroid hormones AND HC. They are low and unstable. Most do need at least 20mg so you might need a little more than that. Sodium is way too low. Are you supplementing Celtic Sea Salt? My aldosterone is low and this helps a lot as I did badly on Florinef. Most start with 1/4 to 1/2 tsp Light Gray Celtic Sea Salt in water per day. Some might need up to 2 tsp per day. Potassium needs to be higher too. Closer to 5. This is not a good aldosterone test. It is to see if your aldosterone is too high. You might talk to Val about this. Progesterone does look to be low. Testosterone is as well. No range for estradiol? You will have to consult with Val on the iron panel. I really do not know what she was looking for. Since you are taking T3 for RT3 you might check in with the RT3 group as well. Quest Labs - 3/31/10 Vit.
