Guest guest
Hi Joanne, I've had problems with gallstones immediately after large exposures to mercury from unprotected filing removals. Each time I developed lots of fatty stones which I removed using liver cleanses (i.e., drinking epson salts and olive oil). Cutler says liver cleanses are not good for mercury toxic people and are contraindicated. In my case I had complete biliary obstruction, which came with bloating, weight loss, high white blood count, pain, and other symptoms. I'm glad I did not have my gallbladder out because I only developed stones twice in five years, each time immediately after having filing removal dental proceedures. Doing a cleanse made me feel a little sick, but if I hadn't had the stones out I would have required surgery or hospitalization, so in my case I'm glad I used the cleanses. Now that I know Cutler's opinion, I avoid the cleanses but would use them if I thought it was an emergency. I am pretty sure that I develop stones immediatly after large exposures to mercury, and at no other time. I have not started chelation. ALA also changes the retention of copper and zinc, and in my case I suspect that my bile flow is not so good, but I have had some success improving it by taking molybdenum to limit copper absorbtion, as well as SAMe, taurine, TMG, and other supplements. If you have stones they could be caused by a change in bile composition resulting from mineral imbalances, or perhaps from increased mercury in your bile. When I do a cleanse I usually take 1-2 teaspoons of epson salts in a warm glass of coke, and then after diahrhea begins I drink about a cup of olive oil. The next day if you drink enough espon salts to keep you bowel movements liquid you can see if there were any stones. Good luck - sounds like we have the same kind of mercury troubles!
