I feel like a pest, but after doing fairly well 9 weeks into RT3 clearance, I'm

feeling really hypo again. I'm dosing T3 25mg morn, noon, mid afternoon,

dinner for a total of 100. Last night, I added 5mg at bedtime and slept like a

baby. Today I've had that hypo tired feeling and starting mid afternoon, legs

swelling and hurting- which I haven't had in forever, tight throat and

chest-like I can't get my breath. I've been drinking 1.5-2t sea salt in 32 oz

water throughout the day, and am sooooo thirsty but it's really hot here! No

weight loss yet, either, but I'm just starting to decrease the HC from 40mg a

day. I'm nauseated with that weird tight sick feeling in my throat up my neck

and into my ears...could this be too much cytomel and hc?

Something is not right...maybe I'll feel better tomorrow...

I've never, ever, ever been hyper and am not sure that's what this is...

Thanks for any suggestions.

I don't know where everyone is today, but anyway, it will help the mods if you

can post your average temps, blood pressure and pulse. Those will help determine

if you are on too much of the t3 or HC. Or not enough.

If you are hyper, you will usually have high pulse AND high average temps. I

don't think it's unusual to need high doses until you hit clearance, which won't

happen for another couple of weeks or so. I was having a bad spell myself the

past few days and Val suggested I needed more t3 now that I've been supporting

my adrenals better, and that seems to be doing the trick, but I'm on way less t3

than you are, so hopefully the mods can jump in here tomorrow.

Nausea is often low cortisol and high HC often leads to high BP and high blood

sugar, so again, giving this info to the mods can help them help you.

I know Val said today that this time of year a lot of people really need salt,

but maybe you are taking too much and making yourself swell up and feel thirsty?

Do you have electrolyte labs to post?

I hope you feel better.

Thanks, Kathleen... here goes..

My basal temp is running 97.4-6, which is good for me.

My daily temps are averaging 98.4, within .02 variation.

BP is usually low 106-136/68-88 and pulse 88-104

My ferritin/iron is good and high. I've sent Val my labs over the years.

I've been on 1.5-2t sea salt for a year +, and adjust it 'per taste' re if it

tastes too salty you don't need it, and if it tastes bland, you need more salt.

Maybe I need to pay more attn to that.

I don't have electrolytes as it's never been an issue. Rescheduled my labs and

doc until 2 weeks after 7/15, hoping i'll have clearance by then.

Forgot to say that I can really tell when the T3 is wearing off, and I've never

felt that before. It's as though the time between doses needs to be shorter...I

could feel myself fading today..so I took my noon and afternoon doses early.

For the past 2 weeks, I've been less tired and staying up late(after midnight!)

which is weird as I'm usually wiped out. But I'm not wired, if that makes sense.

My 'normal' pattern for years was a night owl, but I thought that was a

maladaptation re adrenal exhaustion.

Sigh..so much to figure out..

Thanks again,

Pulse, temperature??

You could be hypo still, 100 is not an enormous dose.

if pulse/temperature are OK you can try and extra 12.5, the effect

will stabilise after 3 days and wear off quickly if it's too much.

40 of HC may be too much, see what happens when you drop by 2.5.

Try one thing at a time though.

Hi : You're not a pest, finding answers to these questions is why this

group is here.

I do not know if you're having the same problem I did, but thought it was worth

mentioning that the last time I had symptoms similar to yours - hypo tired

feeling, legs hurting, can't catch breath - I was on too much HC and decreasing

helped.

Sometimes HC needs decrease as RT3 is resolved.

Hope this helps,

Sorry, Nick... I think I posted those after Kathleen reminded me-- here they

are:

My basal temp is running 97.4-6, which is good for me.

My daily temps are averaging 98.4, within .02 variation.

BP is usually low 106-136/68-88 and pulse 88-104

from 5/14/10- I stopped T4 on 4/22/10. Stopped Thyrodine and L-Tyrosine on 5/23

I think.

Free T4 0.56

T3, Free 5.2

RT3 10

ACTH 56

My ferritin/iron is good and high. I've sent Val my labs over the years.

I've been on 1.5-2t sea salt for a year +, and adjust it 'per taste' re if it

So, you think I could go up 12.5 T3 and down 2.5 HC... will do and thanks again,

Nick!

Hi ,

Yeah, I think the nightowl thing for me was definitely a cortisol symptom that I

never knew about. I feel a LOT better since getting up early and starting the HC

early. It has totally changed my ryhthm and now I can go to bed at early as

10:30 or 11. And that's early for me, believe me! LOL

If you're not wired, likely your cortisol is not low and your t3 is not high.

You MAY be on a bit too much HC, especially later in the day, which is making

you stay up later. You might want to post your dosing schedule on the adrenal

boards. But as Nick said, don't try to reduce right now if you're going to raise

the t3. You night need that extra HC anyway for a few days with the t3 raise.

Nick advised to increase and your symptoms sound sort of hypo to me, also your

temps, too, so maybe that's a good thng to do -- increae the t3. Feeling it wear

off is a good sign you're not on enough. I was told that if you feel it wear off

like that, you don't have enough in your bloodsteam, especially if you weren't

feeling it wear off before.

Hope you feel fetter soon!
