Guest guest
Thanks for that, Margery, but it doesn't quite answer my question. Maybe I should ask it this way: if I stay at 75 mcg, will RT3 continue to clear and/or will I get more hypothyroid symptoms? If I keep raising and suddenly end up hyperthyroid because of all the remaining RT3 clearing, what do I do? Would I decrease the Cytomel slowly or quickly? Thanks for any help with this. > > > > My HC and ferritin levels are good, but I still have an RT3 issue and so am taking Cytomel. I've been increasing by 6.25 mcg every 7 days and am now at 75 mcg. My resting heart rate tends to be high (80s or sometimes even 90s) but hasn't gotten higher. Should I keep upping my Cytomel the way I have been, or should I hold at 75 mcg for awhile and wait for the RT3 to clear, so that I don't get hyperthyroid symptoms? Guest guest
75 mg what Val often recommends, here's her post: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/40588 That post also contains her recommendation on increasing/decreasing, by monitoring pulse & temps. Here's another of Val's posts on the subject: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/message/40546 At 75mg it is not likely to be terribly hyper at clearance. But if you do find yourself hyper at clearance, an immediate decrease is recommended, skipping the next dose, for example. Here's Moderator Nick's more specific instructions if you find yourself hyper at clearance: " If this happens then drop your dose to nothing or maybe a quarter of what you were on and take your pulse each time you would have taken a tablet, if it's high skip it, if it's near normal then take half what you would have done normally.
