Guest guest
I am using Iodoral at 100mg per day along with Cynomel. I am in week 5 of my process to T3 only. My thyroid seems to be okay as every morning I am waking with a basal temp between 98.2 and 98.4. I just checked my daily averages over the last month and basically I am between 98.1 and 98.2, so with that I would have to say my adrenals are actually doing okay as well. I did start Isocort two days ago because I tend to be low midday and I would like to support my adrenals at that time. I am trying a schedule of 3-3-1. I am now taking 62.5 mg Cynomel sublingually with 12.5 at bedtime. I do have bouts of rapid heartbeat and irregularity but I have had that for three years and I think it is a result of my hypothyroidism. I am not sure of who is asking questions and who is answering in the below discussion but I can say that there are many hypothyroid people who have positively reacted to Iodine in their diet. Val had a bad experience with iodine and is opposed but if you join the iodine discussion group you will find many people who wouldn't be without it. I personally can see no reason to discontinue the Iodoral with my current results and would welcome contrary voices on this matter. I wish it was all happening faster but I understand this is the normal routine for changing to T3 only and I am in for the long haul. Guest guest
Thanks for the responses For those who answered who did well with iodine, did you have a positive reaction to it right away? Or did you have a negative reaction at first? Also, do you have hashimoto's? Thanks Liz > > > > hi everyone > > I am currently going down on cytomel, now at 55 mcg from 85, because my heart rate was high. I am also going down on HC. I am now at 27 mg. Guest guest
Dear Kris (and others who have had any kind of experience with Iodine in combination with nothing or anything) I am thinking of trying something similar with Iodoral. I read Dr. Browstein's Iodine book and have been doing additional research. Here's a few questions. 1. If you have been on Iodoral 100 mg/day since April, wouldn't your iodine loading be complete after a few months so do you plan to reduce your iodine? 2. Did the detox reaction eventually resolve, how long did they continue after going up to 100 mg/day? 3. What kind of salt loading did you do for the irregular heart rhythm? 4. Are you following a specific protocol using iodine with T3 only? 5. Did it eventually lower your TSH and increase your T4 levels? 6. What was your starting rT3 ratio and what is it now after T3 and Iodine treatment? Please keep us posted so we can see what the experience of a iodine + T3 treatment can be as a case study. Would appreciate hearing more details about your experience. Stan I have Hashimoto's and I started Iodoral because of a low test result with the iodine loading test (Which was 74% and I probably would not have started it without the poor result). I started the Iodine Protocol first, around the first of the year and I did have a detox reaction (a bout of pimples, some heart irregularity which I did salt loading for)which I think was bromide (I am very sensitive to bromide in hot tubs) but could easily have been fluoride as well. It also raised my TSH to 13.5 but left my T3 and T4 levels the same as they were low prior to starting the Iodoral. I think having grown up in the "goiter" belt my body is critically short of iodine this is not the case for everyone and I would never start before taking the Iodine loading test.I started my T3 only in April after finding I have a ratio of 12 and increased my Iodoral as well to 100mg around the same time. In the past I have not been able to take any more than 1 grain of ERFA and already I am taking 62.5 mcg of Cynomel. My Ferritin and iron levels are and have always been good and my adrenals were WNL but low midday and not super high in the morning, so I don't have the same challenges that some people do.I hope you find this helpful and thanks to everyone for all the great information one can find here.Kris> > >> > > hi everyone> > > I am currently going down on cytomel, now at 55 mcg from 85, because my heart rate was high. Guest guest
OK Val, I understand, I'll take it there. Stan Stan I would love to see these answers too but NOT on this group. Ther is an iodie group that can help wiht iodine questions MUCH better than we can here and we NEED to stay ON tiopic as ther eare just too many posts to wander. I still firmly believe if you are taking enough thyroid you are gettign enough iodine in that thyroid. NO ONE has been able to answer that for me oincluding the "iodine experts" I have asked. So I will continue to believe this until I learn differntly.-- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/http://faqhelp.webs.com/http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

Guest guest
Hi Stan, I will keep you posted on my results. First though I am not going to test again until July. It is said that your TSH will stay elevated for at least 6 months, maybe longer, so in July I am going to repeat TSH and probably the iodine loading test. On the iodine discussion boards (led by who knows Brownstein or works for him) they say that you may continue to detox bromide for a long time and as I work in the field of dentistry I think fluoride is also a problem as well as heavy metals. My guess is that until my thyroid works optimally I will hold on to these toxins more than a " normal " person and that is why I am doing the T3 only. I want my thyroid to work optimally. The detox reaction has pretty much resolved itself. I do still have a burning tongue occasionally which is exacerbated by exposure to mint. I still get some pimple/acne but nothing like I was. If I have toxins in my bones it could take a long time to actually get rid of all of them even with using FIR sauna, iodine, etc. Many say up to a year or more. I have done the salt loading with 1/2 tsp of salt in warm water followed by 12 ounces of fresh filtered water and then repeated it within 45 minutes if there is no relief. I have never had to do more than that but I do consume a lot of Celtic Sea Salt every day and feel better for it. I suspect I average 2 tsp a day but I never eat processed salt only Celtic Sea Salt and Himalayan salt. I have also found that the irregular heartbeat is better if I take potassium and keep my magnesium high. I do need to have an electrolyte panel done soon.In fact, it is next on my list as I can do that without doctors orders at a local hospital lab in St. , MN. I am following the Iodine Protocol along with advice on taking T3 that I glean from Nick. As far as I know there is no combined protocol. My RT3 ratio was 12. I have had unresolved thyroid problems for possibly 20 years and it was never truly controlled which makes me think the RT3 problem has been there a long time. I used to diet severely and run 5 miles every day on a vegetarian diet in addition to other traumatic experiences through the years, so the cause could be any number of things including exposure to toxins every day in the dental office. I will look for any other responses with interest. Guest guest
I took iodine when I was on that re-formulated armour....but now I dont.... since I'm afraid to....I read there were some kind of adverse or problems with it " muddying the waters " so to speak ------- Original Message ------- From : Sent : 6/6/2010 3:03:13 PM To : RT3_T3 Cc : Subject : RE: Re: Re: question for those who have tried iodine Stan I would love to see these answers too but NOT on this group. Ther is an iodie group that can help wiht iodine questions MUCH better than we can here and we NEED to stay ON tiopic as ther eare just too many posts to wander. I still firmly believe if you are taking enough thyroid you are gettign enough iodine in that thyroid. NO ONE has been able to answer that for me oincluding the " iodine experts " I have asked. So I will continue to believe this until I learn differntly. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/
