Guest guest
Probably not. A paraben is not as bad as petroleum or mineral oil. My current cream has one in it. However, I wonder if there isn't something else a person could mix in, like an anti-bacterial agent that is natural...from plants? I know olive leaf extract and oregano oil are anti-viral. There is got to be something non-toxic but the pharmacies probably are more used to using the chemical toxic stuff. I have seen some creams with Aloe and aloe is a natural antibacterial and antiviral agent. Also, what about refrigerating the cream? Would that hinder bacteria growth? Cheri -----Original Message----- I recall someone, I think Rose, saying that she was getting her compounding pharmacist to make her a compounded HC cream with as few additives as possible. I called mine today and asked if he could do that and he said yes and that he could dispense it for me in syringes which would make it even easier. He says that 1ml of 1% HC cream = 10mg of HC taken orally. The inactive ingredients would be the emolient cream base that is converted from the ointment, polysorbate 80 and water. He said that he could do it without methylparaben as a preservative and that it would stay mold resistant for up to 4-6 weeks, but that without any preservative bacteria could start to grow in it within 3 - 4 days. All things considered, is the presence of the one paraben that bad? Thanks, .
Guest guest
I got my compounded HC (10 mg/gram) this past week and it is very nice. It absorbs very quickly into my skin; it has no odor or residue. I do keep it in the refrigerator as there are no preservatives in it except sodium benzoate (from strawberries). It is a little expensive, but worth it to me as I try to keep all bad chemicals out of my body. I feel much better using this rather than absorbing all those chemicals from the OTC cream. If anyone is interested, I get it from Women's International Pharmacy in Madison, Wisconsin. They are very nice and I get several hormones compounded by them and am very pleased with them. Guest guest
Sounds great, Dove. How long have you been using it? Those of us who must self-treat have to make do with what we can get OTC as far as topical HC goes. But............I may be seeing an endo later this year, who MIGHT Rx topical HC for me, but without the complete ingredients in the compounding base, I don't know if it is safe for me. If you posted those before, I'll find the message, just let me know please. thanks, sol
