Guest guest
it doesnt really make sense cause you still have to wait on the armour to build up or the t4 to build up...either way there is gonna be a dip....go through it and get it over with.....you will probably only notice it for a few weeks....Val V. **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Guest guest
kim....l was not hypo on t4 only....as a matter of fact l used to run 6 miles a day and lift weights and weighed 25 less lbs than l do now.....thats not hypo.....no way....l ran a 5 mile race and came in 3rd overall....there were just some things that l didnt like about t4....l had joint pain and depression....other than that l was ok....my old timer doc who treated with armour for over 40 years said simply.....some people do good on t4 and some on armour...about 50/50.....so there is nothing wrong with being on t4.....l liked taking t4 and armour but my t4 ran out and l just havent had the inclination to go to a doc to get it...my armour guy wont let me take t4 he thinks its garbage....but he is an armour guy...so what do ya expect....l think there is a benefit to both.....presently l take 7 grains of armour and l feel fine....lm lifting weights again and going to the gym on a regular basis...l work full time as a hospice case manager ...l have a teenager that runs me ragged and lm gonna be 5l.....so lm not the weight l was wish l was but lm so happy to be able to live my life....maybe you are someone who will do fine on t4 only....l think the real issue in either t4 or armour is getting enough of a dose to feel well....l was on a measly l00 mcg of levoxyl...l just couldnt take more than that without feeling nervous....armour doesnt make me feel that way and l can take way more....regardless of which one you chose make sure you take enough to feel your best.....in the old days an average dose of t4 was more like 200 mcgs and of armour 3-5.......l felt like crap on 3 grains only....l know its confusing...pick a path and be consistant with it...Val V. **************Biggest Grammy Award surprises of all time on AOL Music. Guest guest
Kim - Have you thought about a combo of synthroid and Armour? I take 100 mcg of synthroid per day, plus 1 grain of Armour. That was I am still getting the T1,T2,T3 and T4 from the Armour that I am lacking (I don't have a thyroid) Just a suggestion. Guest guest
Kim, Do you have any test results you could share? I'm not saying not to switch back. If you feel you did better on the Levothroid, then that is what you should do, but there might be something else going on that is causing the problems. I know that thyroid issues can cause difficulties carrying pregnancies to term. Your difficulties may not have to do so much with which medicine you are taking, but that your levels are out of whack. Have you been keeping a tempurature graph? My suggesstion would be for you to get a handle on your levels before you try for another baby (if you can do this). Cherie A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. Herm Albright > Please go easy on me, I am having such a horrible time. Guest guest
Kim, you might not be doing well on Armour because you have a reverse T3 issue now, or you're not on enough cortisol. In either case, I personally feel going back to Levothroid would make you worse, but that is just my opinion. Someone else suggested you " just " switch back, but they personally are still on Armour, so don't know how they could recommend that. I also consider 4.5 grains of Armour to be a lot, since I'm nearly optimized on 2, but then I've heard other people take up to 11 grains, so obviously everyone is different. If you've been following other posts, I've been researching temps as related to a woman's cycle lately. I think the reason hypo women can't carry to term is simply because their temps are too low. Apparently, after ovulation, your body needs to warm up AT LEAST to 98.6, preferably higher, for the embryo. Just like chicken egg incubators are set at precise temperatures and if they're set too low or calibrated wrong, the egg won't hatch. If my theory is correct, then you miscarried due to low temps. Why were your temps low? Because you weren't on enough HC to get the T3 to the cells. It's probably common to raise Armour when your temps are low, thinking that's the problem, when really you need more HC. If you do have a reverse T3 issue, how did you get that? By passing your sweet spot, and taking too much Armour, meaning too much T4. Since switching back to Levothroid would mean ONLY T4, this rT3 problem would only continue, not improve. In fact, it might get worse. So what should you do now? Get some bloodwork for TSH, free T3, free T4, and reverse T3. Even if you can't convince a doc to do reverse T3, the level of your frees would show a rT3 problem. Good luck Kim, I lost my second while on Synthroid. OB doc actually ran a TSH test when I was 6 weeks, and then results were stuck in my file, only to be reviewed when I came in at 12 weeks. Oh my, your TSH is 12! I think at that point the baby was already retarded cause the sonogram showed no movement, whereas with my first (pre-thyroid problems), every snapshot showed him in a different position. Guest guest
Forgot to ask, what is current HC dose and schedule, also Armour schedule, current temps, and BP? Does BP rise on standing?
