First experience of ALA - not a good one

I just thought I would share my first experience of ALA.

I have been chelating 3 hourly with DMSA, 25mgs for about 14 weeks now

(a round a week) and decided to have a go with the ALA.

Sadly this has proved to be a big mistake. I used 6mgs every 3 hours

(I couldn't cut the tablets any smaller!) but it has made me really

ill. Severe headaches and needing to sleep all the time. It's 3 days

post round now and the headaches have eased off but I am definitely

left worse for wear. I am really miserable about this as it is my

brain symptoms I so desperately want to improve.

But I guess I am going to have to wait many many more months before I

try the ALA again.

I only hope that I haven't done any damage by taking the ALA?

14 weeks is barely 3 months and you may need more time to reduce

your body burden of mercury.

Did you take the ALA alone, or with DMSA?

hi, vanessa,

fyi, after 13 weeks of dmsa at 19mg every 3 hours (4 hours at night), 4 days

a week, i tried ala at 25mg every 3 hours (with 19mg dmsa) for the first

time last weekend. i also felt worse right away, increase in overall pain

and fatigue, plus return of some symtoms that i'd not had in about a year

(joint and tendon pains, etc). i stopped my ala after 3 days and continued

my dmsa. i immediately started to feel better when stopped the ala. i used

the dmsa alone for another 12 hours, which did seems to help me recover so

that i did not continue ot feel so terrible after stopping the round.

so, in addition to other suggestions, if you aren't already doing this, you

may want to try continuing with dmsa alone for a while at the end of the ala

& dmsa round.

blessings on your healing journey,

kendra
