Has Anyone Read Disconnected Kids or Tried the methods?

Hi,I have a parent that is questioning the validity of a method described in the book " Disconnected Kids " by Dr. Melillo. I have not read the book and am trying to reach out to anyone out there who has or has attempted to work with a child with the methods described in the book? Any input would be helpful.
