Hi I didn't realize 'himself' was still looking for work. Does he not like his current job or is the pay not enough, or? I hope he finds the perfect job--quickly:)I did mention the genealogy sites. I use these the most:http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#p=0https://www.familysearchlabs.org/http://www.findagrave.com/cgi-bin/fg.cgi?page=gs & http://usgwtombstones.org/registry.htmlGood luck with your genealogy! I love Find A Grave. Today a volunteer of Find a Grave uploaded a photo of my great grandfather's gravestone for me. hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Not much change going on around here - Himself is still hunting a betterjob, we're still trying to get the car into the shop (so I can get out ofthe house - haven't left the place since Christmas!!!!!!!!!!ARGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) My "Publishing Woman" is pretty muchsingelhandedly trying to put on an Embroiderers' Guild regional seminar atthe end of the month, so now that I've caught up on model-stitching, I'mtrying to distract myself from new designs for a couple of weeks and nowhaving an attack of Idle Hands! The weather here has been in the 50s, butwith cold damp winds so still too chilly to go outside and get a start onthe yard... Sharon, was it you who mentioned some good free genealogy sites andsoftware? A friend has gotten me interested in that again, now seems like agood time to play! When he was hired, it was with the understanding the job would go to

fulltime; after the 1st week corporate informed the manager she could have

no more full time employees - and so he's stuck in a 25-hour-a-week job

(max!) until he finds something else, because if he quits he loses

unemployment benefits.... He could fill in with hours at the fire dept

(when his work schedule agrees) but alas, unemployment actually pays him

more than either one! I figure he's been working continuously for more

than 49 years, he's due some bennies from the gov-ment... He hates it,

though, thinks he's taking " welfare " .

Did a little bit of genealogy some time back, but it was in the days of

ssssslllllllllllllooowwwww dialup so didn't get very far. Will be fun to

add it to my list of Stuff To Mess With! :-D

Downloaded a software called " Family Tree Builder " , guess if I don't

like it I can score another. Now if I can only remember where I " put away "

the stuff I had to begin with!

I used to be passionate about genealogy. I was able to track some of my family back to France as far back as 1575. I still love the subject but haven't had the time or energy to keep diving into the subject. I hope you find lots of " goodies " and " hidden treasures " through your research.

www.geni.com is a really neat site because it matches your research with research done by others. This way you can " sync " each other's family trees. I just noticed though that they now have the " Pro " version – so I don't know what the difference is anymore but it might still be worth looking into. Happy hunting!

Hi That's too bad about the job not going to full time. I have heard of other people in pretty much the same situation lately, due to the recession. I haven't heard of that genealogy software. My cousin is sold on Family Tree Maker and sent me his last years software but I haven't spent much time working with it yet.hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. I forgot to mention Geni.com. I use Geni.com and love it!! I did a free trial of the "pro" but I didn't get any benefit from it myself so I didn't continue it. I've traced my ancestry back to my 6th great grandfather, the Count of Castille, who was born in 1678 in Spain. Genealogy is so addicting!Perhaps you will find time to work on your genealogy again soon, .hugs SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
