Hello – thanks to all who responded so quickly to my problems with

first round chelation.

I'm very grateful to have any input. Inside this post is medical &

symptom history (as requested by a kindly, interested poster), Hair

and Blood analysis, and answers/responses to questions from posters

who responded. Sorry if it is long-winded. Would love to be dealing

with a root cause one of these days.

Also, if anyone has any strong recommendations for supplementation

based on these results, I would be very interested. I am currently

giving Mg, C, B6, EFAs, Cod Liver Oil, Colostrum, probiotics,

Caprylic Acid, (occasional Milk Thistle), Zinc, copper-free multi. On

other days, I have also been trying a formula I found from Millenium

Nutritionals (ASD-Plex) developed for ASD patients that has many of

the suggested supplements in Andy's books.

** Regarding the Lyme comments from posters (see details below).

Thanks very much for the pointers and referrals. If my son does

indeed have Lyme he would be a late stage patient. From friends

affected by Lyme I do understand what an odyssey it is to diagnose,

live with, and treat Lyme and its coinfections. For metal toxic

people, it surely must be difficult to fight disease with metals in

one's system, which, no doubt, are inhibiting normal healing

processes, etc … . So, although I'm been on a long journey with my

child, I am at the beginning of my start with Lyme and metals

treatments. I do have all the big-name Lyme books (including

Rosner's) and am watching Lyme groups with interest.

Andy had kindly answered one of my earlier posts about concurrent

chelation/abx (clarithromycin, and sulfa-meth/trimethoprin), but I

would welcome another set of eyes to verify contraindications

(especially since I am now adding Flagyl to the mix).

Note that Andy's comment is not necessarily discounting the

possibility of actual Lyme disease. It is a comment taken out of

context of the remaining post.

Andy: I think the likelihood is if you stop the Lyme treatment and

chelate you'll do a

lot better

than if you treat for Lyme and don't chelate.

There is no reason I know of you can't do both at the same time.

Me again .. regarding previous questions by other posters:

1. History – 2nd child, typical and regular schedule of vaccinations

for CA, born 1994, a few ear infections, many sinus infections over

the years (all antibiotic treated), no amalgams

2. Overall – " appears " fairly healthy, attends regular school, but

although bright, things are very difficult for him – physical and

cognitive ymptoms fall into categories correlated with following areas

(ASD, dyspraxia, dyslexia, ADD, Lyme, heavy metal poisoning). Has

very good days where he is functioning quite well – and has terrible

days where he seems in a real fog.

o Diagnosed with dyspraxia/slight hypotonia age 3 (hit developmental

milestones for gross and fine motor, but never developed good

competency compared to peers)

o convergence insufficiency and poor ability to track (diagnosed age

7), right hypertrophy of eye (age 9)

o lack of nystagmus (eye flick) after twirling around

o poor bilateral coordination (possible retained primitive reflexes)

o poor balance, clumsy, accident prone – errors in judging where he is

in space

o poor hand-eye coordination

o fatigue – low energy

o poor fine motor skills

o ADD symptoms early, not classic hyperactivity but fidgety

o Occasional poor eye contact

o postural tremor

o dysgraphia, dyslexia

o occasional fogginess – slow to respond, " out of it "

o erratic performance in school

o grinds teeth in sleep

o constipation

o hand flapping, body writing, and jumping, pacing, when excited or

nervous

o sleep problems (didn't sleep through night until age 7, frequent

wakings, night terrors at age 4) sleep study normal

o abdomen appears swollen, especially after eating

o abdominal pain at night before sleep

o environmental allergies to everything (as per scratch test)

o Total IgE 758.0 (reference range < 87)

o slightly slurred speech (sometimes), immature or reversed speech

o took him to LLMD to rule out more organic issues – pain in knees,

fatigue - diagnosed with potential Lyme 10/06 (from Western Blot lyme

specific bands in IGG, IGM) from IgeneX lab, low CD57 count (= 54)

note: no known tick attachment nor rash – so if Lyme is involved, he

is a late stage patient. Not clear if there was a sudden onset of

Lyme symptoms or not because of all the other issues he's had for a

long time.

o 10/2006 also tested positive for Human Monocytic Erlichyosis - last

test in 6/2007 tested negative

o Treated for Lyme since Aug 2007 with Biaxin, Metrodizinole, and

Flagyl (every 11 days) – current protocol by LLMD. Also taking

supplemental minerals, probiotics, etc … no herbals (unless you count

colostrum).

o 7/2007 SPECT scan shows hypoperfusion in many areas including MARKED

hypoperfusion in some – more Lyme evidence?

o Since antibiotics he has had days of bad headaches, occasional

blurring vision, pain near eyes)

o probable gut dysbiosis/leaky gut as evidenced by blood IgG for foods

(reads like our normal dinner menus)

o overgrowth of klebsiella (treated with Caprylic Acid, also added

Cal-Mag-Butyrate to deal with deficiency)

o erratic performance in school – good days – very bad days in terms

of ability to write, poor reading comprehension, fatigue

o Leans on people and things for stability

o May have food allergies – not identified yet – 2 severe reactions to

unknown ingredient in restaurant meals but only in the last 2 years.

o Being treated for allergies with immunotherapy (allergy shots)

o Last Thyroid Assessment – TSH = 1.75, Free T4 = 1.6, Free T3 = 4.1

(close to high end of reference range ??), Reverse T3 = 16.9, Anti-TG < 32

3. Gone through multiple and useless rounds of neuro-psych and

educational testing (no clear diagnosis, huge discrepancy between

verbal and performance scores)

4. Done many " physical/neuro " therapies with marginal results

(vision therapy, brain gym, DORE, Bender therapy, Interactive

Metronome, OT, biofeedback, listening program). No significant

breakthroughs in school performance. No doubt must have been barking

up the wrong tree or catering to second-order issues.

5. Done many educational interventions to help with dyslexic like

symptoms (audiblox, mood Bell, Barton ) Tutoring specific for

dyslexia does appears to help with reading/spelling.

6. May have food allergies – not identified yet – 2 vomiting/hives

reactions to unknown ingredient in restaurant meals but only in the

last 2 years. Seems a new sensitivity. Was never clearly food

sensitive or responsive to restrictive diets.

7. Currently being treated for allergies with immunotherapy (allergy

shots) for environmentals plus is on 5 mg Singulaire, 120 mg

Fexofenadine (allegro) – I have discontinued use of nasal steroids as

doctor believes regular use of these can suppress immune system

8. Last Thyroid Assessment – TSH = 1.75, Free T4 = 1.6, Free T3 = 4.1

(close to high end of reference range ??), Reverse T3 = 16.9, Anti-TG < 32

Following is his lab results (HAIR followed by BLOOD) both from

Doctor's Data, Inc.

Note: I interpreted these results as follows – please feel free to

comment.

Counting Rule 1: 5 (meets rule) **** potential deranged mineral

xport, making elevated Hg and Al in Toxic Element areas more suspicious

Counting Rule 2: 14 (does not meet rule)

Counting Rule 3: 1 (does not meet rule)

Counting Rule 4: 12 or 13 (since one appears on the cusp) ***

(unusual or suspicious) -- also several other " middle " bands are very

close to the yellow areas

Note: I did not know what to do with bands that were EXACTLY 50% (a

" dot " ).
