Guest guest
If you take your T3 sublingually, you don't have to worry about interactions with iron, etc. If you have low ferritin, increasing T3 can make you very anxious. This list recommends that your ferritin be at least 50 in order to tolerate small amounts of T3, and 70-90 ideally.AnnTo: rt3_t3 Sent: Mon, May 31, 2010 3:28:31 PMSubject: RE: Iron and T3 NEW to this need advice Please Anyway I have just read the importance of low ferritin and have noticed my ferritin is only 30 (ref range 50-150) QUESTION: I see it states not to take ferritin near thyroid meds, so I have read it should be taken 1-2 hours after or 4 hours before? So the only window would be 5pm is that OK?What is the normal starting dosage of ferus Sulphate? Will this help me tollerate T3 better as I have a real problem with increasing my dosage? Hi there, Yes absolutely ferritin is key! It helps the thyroid hormone to be properly utilized into your cells. With low levels your T3 won't be able to enter the cells very well and so it will pool in the blood and cause problems. This is what will be happening with you adn your low ferritin levels will defiantly be the reason why you can't increase your T3 I am taking bluebonnet iron (iron bisglycinate) with a ferritin of 27 (10-120) the moderators have told me I must take 100mg-150mg. Ferrous Sulphate can be very harsh on the stomach and cause constipation but the one I'm taking causes me no problems. Have a look http://www.iherb. com/Bluebonnet- Nutrition- Chelated- Iron-90-Vcaps/ 11571?at= 0 Also make sure you take a high dose of Vitamin C with the iron as this will help it be better absorbed Good luck Josie Get a new e-mail account with Hotmail – Free. Guest guest
Hi Ria, I know its so tough trying to find the right times to take things. I think its really going to be how your body handles the iron. Just build the iron up slowly and just see how you go, you may be able to take quite a large amount at one time. Always take your T3 sublingually (under the tongue) and the thyroid hormone/iron interaction won't be such a problem Have a look at these links-hopefully they will be of help http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/ferritin/ http://thyroid-rt3.com/ Take care, Josie Thanks Josie I will look in to that, should I take it as I said at 5pm as I have read T3 should be take 1 hour before Iron or 4 hours after so as i dose T3 at 7am, 11,am,3pm I only have a window of 5pm - so is it ok to take it at 5pm or do you need multiple dosesThanksRiaHi there,Yes absolutely ferritin is key! Guest guest
This is a question in regards to iron intake with T3. I'm taking SRT3 which is timed released. How can you take your iron then? I'm looking into getting IV's but alittle concerned about possible anaphalactic shock. Guest guest
>Thanks Nick - What Iron supplement is best? (I am in the UK BTW) when would you suggest getting my ferritin level re run after starting the Iron supplement. Also do I have to stay on a maintenance dose of Iron once the levels are up. I don't know which UK ones are best, sorry but not investigated. It will take a couple of months to bring Ferritin up at least, you may be able to start T3 at the same time but will only be able to build slowly. > >Apologies for all of the questions but I am new to this No problem, Val's on a much deserved holiday and I am trying to keep on top of messages but not succeeding at the moment. You may need to stay on a maintenance dose of Iron or simply bringing the T3 up may be enough to let you hang on to it. You need to stop supplementing iron 5 days before testing Nick -- for more information on RT3 and Thyroid Resistance go to www.thyroid-rt3.com
