In the Hair Test book, Andy says hair levels of sodium and

potassium do not reflect body burden or dietary intake (p. 111).

They may give some information about aldosterone production and

thyroid function. Their relationship to calcium and magnesium

may give some information about both adrenal and thyroid function.

Our needs for these minerals vary a lot day to day, especially

with the variability in gut function and urine production that

many of us experience (ie, we lose variable amounts of electrolytes

through these routes). As a result, our sense of taste for these

minerals is much more informative about our ever changing needs

than a hair test will ever be.

I like to drink leftover juice from cooking/steaming veggies

(potassium) with a variable amount of salt (sodium) added.

I find the amount of salt that tastes good varies somewhat

depending on my needs. I find this warm drink to be very

satisfying. A bit of lemon juice or other seasoning can

also be nice.

Thanks to J for posting frequently about electrolyte

balance - it sinks in deeper every time :)

As to which type of salt is best, I haven't done a lot of

research, but I use my taste buds as a guide here, too.

Some of the more " exotic " salts, especially the funny-colored

ones, taste odd to me and I don't enjoy them. Real Salt tastes

good to me, so for now that's what I use.

we have seen that continually keep potassium levels elevated with the

non-biological form of the element. They are Lite Salt which is

potassium chloride--a substitute for sodium chloride which is table

salt and the other is sea salt. Sea salt looks good intellectually -

but after following people's chemistries for several years - I have

found that it also furnishes a non-biological form of potassium. The

profile one will generally find is that potassium goes up faster than

sodium relative to the distance they usually stay apart. On rare

occasions the actual count of potassium may be higher than the sodium.

These are the reasons that I do not recommend Lite or Sea salt. "

you would see it has irregular and isolated crystalline structures

disconnected from the natural elements surrounding them. Thus, however

many vital minerals it may contain, they cannot be absorbed by your

the energy content in the form of minerals can be easily metabolized

by your body. When you use this salt it has a vital energetic effect.

Your body gets an ample net gain with zero energy loss.

> When Dr. Huggins analyzed my hair elements test...his first

salt?

TK--- many people use sea salt without this happening so I doubt this

is the reason, but possibly for you. More likely Hg causing squed

absorbtion

He told me to discontinue. ..When I persisted in an email...here was

his response?

TK--- don't know but possibly, I don't believe in a lot of what he

has to offer [personal opinion]

TK--imo some of it is some isn't

, as far as his chemistry analysis of blood and hair...well I am not

TK--- in general any more mercola is a product advertiser trying to

make money

TK--- a general statement on all sea salt which imo is not correct, I

am sure some are much better than others.

The oceans are being used as dumping grounds for harmful toxic

poisons like mercury, PCBs and dioxin. Reports of oil spills

polluting the sea are becoming more frequent.

With some 89% of all the sea salt producers now refining their salt,

today's sea salt simply isn't as healthy as it used to be.

TK--- this may be true of some

Alot of sea salt is also frome underground mines. These used to be

sea's millions of years ago before all water evaporated. This will be

very clean polutant wise. I know germany hase very large sources, dont

know about the US though..
