Subject: IPF & CHF

Hello All! My name is Sally. I live in Phila.,Pa. & I'm 73+ years old.

I've had the CHF for about 6 yr, and the IPF for about 3 yrs.

I have read some of the messages, and know that I have come to the right

group. I am not able to talk with many People about these problems,

because they all tell me " I LOOK HEALTHY " , but they don't seem to get

it that I literally have to fight for breath at times. I'd like to know

if there is a chat group,so that I can learn more about this condition.

I've never met another person with it until I started reading the

posts, and now I want to get to know you! At least we will understand

what each other is talking about.

Thanks for listening & I look forward to hearing from some of you

soon.... " HAPPY BREATHING!!!!! "

Hi Sally,

Welcome to the group! You will find everyone here to be helpful.

Remember, " knowledge is power. " We all support one another. I've only

been a member for a few moths and I already feel like part of the

family. Feel free to ask any question.

Hi Sally

Welcome to our group, sorry you need us, but glad you found us.

The Philadelphia area group is growing. I am from Northeast Philly but live in Langhorne. Z is from Philly and lives in Blue Bell. Patti F is from Philly and lives in Cherry Hill.

and I go to Penn, Patti goes to Temple. Both teaching hospitals have pulmonary departments that specialize in interstitial lung diseases.

The 3 of us have met for lunch. We hope to meet again when the weather improves.

There are support groups for lung diseases in the area. But my sense is that most of the participants have COPD. I go to St. 's for rehab and have met very few people with IPF.

My number one recommendation to you is that you go to one of the teaching hospitals for a consult, unless you have already done so. Many of us have gone to pulmonary rehab where we learn about the lungs, diseases, exercise, etc.

Other people in this group will recommend that you get an oximeter and they will give you contact information for it.

My dad had CHF, but i don't know anything about the 2 diseases combined.

Let us know if you want to meet for lunch.

Hi Sally... Welcome to our board. You're in the best place you can be for info and support. I'm certainly not glad to hear you share PF but I'm glad you found us.

I'm 70 and dx (diagnosed) about 3 yrs. ago. (Mar '06). I live in Oregon.

We ARE a chat board but just not live chat as in instant messenger.

Be sure and sign your posts with your name and it's good info for the board to add your State, disease and when dx. Many of us add our age as well. It helps us remember individual members.

Do you have family support, are you married?

I'll watch for your posts. Lots of info. in the Files section too.
