Guest guest
I went to observe Christi Academy several years ago, and both my advocate and I were impressed with the school. If I had opted to take Noah out of the public school system at that time, instead of enrolling at Sawgrass Springs Middle, I would have sent him to Christi. Not surprised that you're having such a nice experience there. From: royalmp2001 To: sList Sent: Monday, April 2, 2012 10:34 AM Subject: New school - anxiety levels down Hi Everybody! My son suffered from terrible anxiety. It got worse this year due to the increase in student/teacher ratio in public schools as well as other things. We enrolled him in Christi Academy this March and within a week his anxiety issues went down. His grades have improved. Student/ratio is very low. Their curriculum is great. Teachers, staff and volunteers understand autism because they have children with autism or other related disabilities.
Guest guest
Please keep us updated on your child's progress there. Sometimes the first month is the honeymoon period and things may go well. If he is still flourishing after 3 or 4 months there, then we would all be interested to know. Thanks. Guest guest
true that sometimes the first month is a honeymoon period. Having said that I have a 2nd grade client that has been attending Christi since August and wow...what a change. The child was so unhappy in public school and now he is so happy, learning in a supportive environment, and went from being 90% in the autism cluster in public school to fully mainstreamed in the Christi gen ed class in less than 6 months. I was really impressed and after volunteering at the school (even though my child did not attend there), I decided to pull my son out of public school and register him at Christi's Stepss program. He has been there for a month now and I would tell parents this--no school is perfect but if you find a good school (public, private, charter or whatever it may be) that is open to listen to your concerns, respect your opinion and work with your family to improve your child's education and development, and at the same time help you raise him to be a happy independent and good human being, in my book ,that school is a keeper. That is what I have found a Christi.
