Hollis,

I was diagnosed with lyme as well with a positive IGM from Igenex. I've been to five infectious disease docs. Two think I have it, three don't. What's confusing to me is that I only have clitoradynia and some bladder issues. I do not have any of the other symptoms. I'm more confused by the day.

It is SO confusing. . . My understanding is that there really isn't some magic

check list of symptoms. Like its relative, syphilis, Lyme is such a "great

imitator" that you could have just a few symptoms or a slew. If your IgeneX

IgM was positive, though, i'd take that as confirmation you're dealing with it.

The bands involved in a positive IgeneX Lyme diagnosis are, in many cases,

Lyme-specific, so i don't understand why if those are positive in your case,

there would be any question.

This doctor wanted to put me on four months of IV antibiotics and that scares me to

death. Whenever I've been on antis, my clitoradynia gets worse, which makes me think my problem is yeast related (no positive yeast cultures of course). Given my symptoms, do you think it's possible that I really do have lyme?

Yes (see above).

Do you know anything about the CD 57? Mine was 64 when I first had it checked.

Most doctors think that it doesn't mean anything.

Not a great deal -- but enough to have requested that it be done. I don't know

about most doctors, but my sense is that the good Lyme literate doctors DO

take it as a good marker for Lyme and use it to guage the efficacy of treatment.

I personally have chosen not to go the antibiotic route, since my Lyme is

late stage and the chances of antis being effective, even if i DID want to try

them, is slight, as opposed to all the potential problems. I'm using

Buhner's herbal protocol. Still too early to give any feedback about it, but

others are having some very good results, so i'm hopeful.

I just ordered a book today called The Second

Brain--about connections between the gut and nervous

system. Hope I learn something interesting.

Arline

Please tell us if it is worth reading, once you've had a

chance to look at it, ok?

Or, better yet, give us a nice little book report. . .:)

Hi Hollis,

Thanks for you answers on Ataxia and Lyme diagnosis.

Actually I read yesterday on the internet that Ataxia

has sometimes the symptom of slurring speech etc. I

had never read that before but have been under the

impression that Gluten Ataxia is mostly about legs and

walking.

Unfortunately there isn't enough information out there

but I keep looking.

I just ordered a book today called The Second

system. Hope I learn something interesting.

Arline
