Ladies, this reply came from a woman on the Happy Pelvis group. She gave me permission to send it here to Vulvar Disorders... Hugs, ChelleLawrence Brown wrote: I use valium suppositories 10 mg rectally at bedtime every night and they have helped tremendously with my pain symptoms. I have been diagnosed with Pudendal Nerve Entrapment (severe perineal pain, moderate dysesthetic vulvodynia, mild rectal pain). I do not have IC. My doctor told me I could try the suppositories either vaginally or rectally. Using them vaginally gave me some irritation so I only tried that one night. Using them rectally has helped me so much, especially my perineal pain. I have been on so many different drugs (narcotics, antidepressants, anticonvulants, etc…, etc… These valium

suppositories have helped me more than anything else ever has. The doctor told me that valium has strong muscle relaxant properties and that they are trying this to calm the muscles in the pelvic floor. By the way, my doctor also said to put a cotton ball at the outside of your rectum after you insert suppository so that it doesn’t leak out. (They melt in your rectum so you don’t want that leaking into your vagina.) I don’t notice any bad side effects. They do help you sleep better and longer. They seem to make me dream a lot more. Anyway, I noticed a big difference in my pain the very first morning after I used them. I’m not sure of the base either. I get them from a compounding pharmacy in Phoenixville, PA (suburbs of Philadelphia). They pack them in ice and mail them to me. They are very helpful at this pharmacy and I’m sure they could tell you more about the base, etc…. Custom Prescriptions, . My muscles were also measuring high and have gone down quite a bit in the past few months on the valium suppositories. (I’m not sure of the exact numbers). I hope this helps. (lab1117@...)
