I think he's a DAN Doctor, he comes up in lists for DAN Doctors. Talking about DAN Doctors in general, can someone who has worked with DAN doctor's in the past explain why they do not take insurance, or is it that insurance does not want to work with them? The fees are not extremely high considering it is a doctor you are consulting with. If you were to see a regular doctor with no insurance you would pay something similar, I don't think DAN doctor's are expensive but the main problem is that they are not providers for any insurance. Does anyone know why? To: "sList " <sList > Cc: "sList " <sList > Sent: Thursday, February 16, 2012 4:50 PM Subject: Re: Dr Udell's fees?

Good Evening!Dr. Udell has been a pediatrician for long years. He decided to become a DAN doctor after his life was touch by autism. And I would say his heart. He had a personal experience with it and decided to focus his expertise on our kids. His fees are reasonable considering other DAN doctor fees. And the most important thing is he is in Broward. For long years I had consider taking my son to a DAN but all the ones I researched were out of town and very unaffordable to me. Until I found Dr. Udell. For a single mom I had to put together the mony as I could but I believe it was one of the best investments I did for my son... I would have like to do it long before... But the perfect timing comes when it comes. :)I would definitely encourage you, and the ones that didn't take their kids to a DAN to do it. Save money little by little but make this one of your goals. You will understand the reasons when in the future you will see a regression in your child not knowing why and it was yeast... And Dr. Udell watched it! And prescribed for it! Things that you alone or with a regular pediatrician wouldn't have come into your awareness.About insurances... I really don't exactly know why they don't cover DAN but I can suppose it is because it might have a downsize to support a more holistic approach than paying a regular pediatrician that supports pharmacy business... Not sure if I am clear or accurate w this. I think u could call and ask at Dr. Udells office why insurance doesn't cover them and they are nice enough to explain. They are very open and warm.I hope this assists you some more on your decision and understanding about this topic.Enjoy your evening!Fabiola Sent from my BlackBerry® on the MetroPCS NetworkSender: sList Date: Thu, 16 Feb 2012 14:28:13 -0800 (PST)To: sList <sList >ReplyTo: sList Subject: Re: Dr Udell's fees? They'd make under $100 as a provider for an insurance company....big difference from what they are asking.

Insurance controls the treatment a doctor gives the patient (reason for visit,

test that can be given, medication that can be prescribed, etc...) DAN doctors

think outside the box and work with alternative remedies, natural remedies,

etc... and the insurance would probably not accept this. Ida

My son has been seen by 3 different DAN doctors. Dr. Udell being the last one

and for the past year. He has the lowest fees of all. And I never paid $600. Ida

Dr. Udell is a board certified pediatrician with a PHD in Child development

(Developmental Pediatrician) and also a DAN doctor. He is constantly attending

new DAN seminars to learn everything new out there. He is worth every penny!

His fee structure is actually a little cheaper than most DAN Dr.'s. If you have insurance you can file the visit yourself and your out-of-network benefits will kick in. My insurance usually reimburses me 60% of my DAN Dr.'s visit.

Re: Dr Udell's fees?

Hi Gabi,

Here's how they broke it down for me the other day.

$350 for 1st visit plus around $50 for supplements

$125 for lab work and then additional $125

For picking up lab results... Something like that

Very expensive.

Best regards.

Deidre.

I think the main reason is insurance companies are a pain to deal with and their compensation is sometimes miniscule.

Insurance does cover DAN Dr.'s, it is that DAN Dr.'s do not take insurance. You can file the claim yourself with your insurance company and get reimbursed. The problem is, because DAN Dr.'s are not insurance providers, your out-of-network coverage applies which is usually much less compensation (mine is 60%.) Insurance will not cover phone consultations however. My DAN is in Melbourne so we often do short phone consultations which are not reimbursed by my insurance.

Hi Gabi,

Dr. Udell is my third and best DAN doc, and has the most reasonable fees. My first Dan doc wanted to charge $450.00 per hour for a phone consult and recommended a drug for a 3 year old that right now has a pending class action lawsuit because it causes bladder cancer - how ridiculous is that?

Dr. Udell truly cares about our kids and only makes safe recommendations. He has done wonders for my boys. He was able to identify underlying issues and since those issues have been addressed, they are more productive in therapy (speech, OT, ABA) and in school. I know we continually struggle with where to spend our dollars for kids, but the truth is that if they are physically happy and healthy they are more apt to learn new skills.
