Nila,I read your article which brought tears to my eyes.  I am also a mom with two autistic boys, and have the exact same fears.  Your expression of your own 'mortality' too, couldn't be more true.  Each and every day, and night these thoughts come through my head and at times are too much to bear as there never seem to be any answers to the future care of our children when we are no longer around.

Thanks for sharing.Caroline

I am sure we all carry this overwhelming feeling of impending doom. I am currently pursuing immortality (ha ha). I have changed my lifestyle considerably so that I may live to be 103. I have recently lost a lot of weight, quit eating all my comfort foods such as refined carbs and sugar, and I crawl in my HBOT chamber with my child as regularly as possible as this has really strengthened my body and mind. I wish I had more time to devote to exercise but one day I will be done with my continuing education and I can devote that extra time to exercise.

While I am fully aware that I will not live forever (nor do I want to), but I am trying to extend my life so that I may be helpful to my disabled child (someday disable adult) for many years to come. Stress reeks havoc on the body and mind so I have made a concerted effort not to stress about things I cannot control as there is too much of it out there. This takes daily practice and I am not always successful but I live to fight another day.........

For a parent of special-needs children, fear is part of the daily routine
