You apply for the scholarship first (do your intent to participate on the school choice website) To receive 100% of your child's funding for the 12-13 school year you must complete your intent to participate by July 2nd. Then you have until August 2nd to find and enroll in a participating McKay school. DO NOT withdraw your student from public school until he/she is enrolled in a participating McKay private school for the 12-13 school year. Dr. HersheyAtlantis AcademySent from my iPad

You must first be accepted by a McKay participating school. Then you may apply for McKay and when accepted you can switch to the private school at any time. This usually happens pretty fast because all DOE has to confirm is that your child has an IEP, has been enrolled for 1 year and has been accepted by a McKay School. BUT the funding checks are done 4 times a year and I think the cutoffs are 4 to 8 weeks before (September 1, November 1, February 1, and April 1) so the checks may not start coming until the following cutoff.

I seem to remember the cutoff for the September check is July 1st

Do not leave the public school until AFTER you have acceptance in writing from FDOE. This could create a problem. It is best to go right from public into the private school with no interuption.

I have a question regarding the McKay Scholarship. My daughter started Public School with an IEP in Nov. 2010, when she turned 3 and was no longer covered with Early Steps. She completed the school year and went into Pre-K again for the second time. Since she has a late birthday, she is now going in to Pre-K again for the third time. I tried to apply for the McKay online and the system tells me I can't apply because she is 4. Is this correct?! That does not make any sense to me. I was under the impression that she could apply as long as she has an IEP, was still enrolled in the public school system and had completed the FULL Pre-K year and was at leasgt 4-years old???

Any suggestions or advice are greatly appreciated. THANK YOU!!

I'm sorry to jump into this conversation...i have a question. I filed for McKay for my daughter and I already received an email with how much she will receive for the 2012-2013 school year. She is also already enrolled in a private school for the 2012-13 school year. So, now my question is what do I do now? Thanks! If she was approved and assigned a matrix number for the 2012-2013 school year and you are already enrolled with a private school for the 2012-2013 school year you don't need to do anything else. Just be certain that the private school enrolled your daughter with their school through the McKay website and did/does so prior to 8/2/12. Sent from my iPad

this is really what it says on the webAre first-year kindergarteners eligible for the scholarship program? Yes. Students that have completed a year of pre-kindergarten may be eligible. The student must have been enrolled and reported for funding in a Florida public school during the October and February Florida Education Finance Program surveys and was eligible for services for student with disabilities. The student must also be 5 years old by September 1 of

the school year in which he or she intends to use the scholarship. http://www.floridaschoolchoice.org/information/mckay/faqs.asp To: sList Sent: Friday, March 16, 2012 6:27 AM Subject: Re: Re: McKay
