Guest guest
Hi to all, I haven't posted in a long time but I check in now and then and the post from Gez brought back a lot of memories of when I first learned I may have PSC. Gez - try not to freak out too much until after the ERCP. My initial path down this road was very similar to yours. I've had abnormal liver enzymes for almost 12 years. After no reasons were found to explain it, I had a biopsy in 2004. They found some inflammation (which I later learned is called cholangitis!) and possibly early stage fibrosis but the pathologists differed on that point. I had no other symptoms and my doc didn't feel it was necessary to go forward with an ERCP because I was symptom free. Another major point that we have followed since is that my ALP has never been elevated. So as long as I am symptom free and my ALP is good, I have not done anything else regarding PSC and the docs have not formally diagnosed me. Is your ALP elevated? If it is not, it doesn't rule out PSC but it at least suggests a stable situation for me. My doc said he sees this more and more as tests are more sensitive and done more often for insurance. Eventually, I will have another biopsy to see if anything changed. Hopefully, you can find a way to take things one step at a time. if your enzymes have been elevated for 10 years but you've had no symptoms, that is a good sign that whatever is going on is going slowly. Dont let the websites scare you! Hi to all my friends from a disappointed Cleveland (thanks for nothing, LeBron!). We anxiously await 's visit for a new liver which, God willing, will come this week! in Cleveland
