No, you're right, Marty... I don't just trust the govt blindly about RDA's.

I did some research on Linus ing and Vitamin C (thank you for that info)

and in case anyone is interested here's a link to something that's a quick

and easy read

http://www.lbl.gov/Science-Articles/Archive/pauling-and-vitamin-c.html it's

nearly 10 years old but the info is still good to know. Now, I still can't

see taking 40g of vit C per day but I'm waiting on my 1000mg capsules of Vit

C from Doctor's Trust to arrive (kinda slow now that I think about it) and I

might just take 2 or 3 per day.

Thanks again :-)

  • 6 years later...

I wanted to ask if anyone is taking extra Vitamin C.

I started taking Vitamin C a few months ago (Emergen C) and noticed

right away that I was feeling better. I think my temperatures even

went up. I just finished listening to the book Doctor Yourself by Dr.

Saul (PhD) and his solution for almost any ailment is mega-

dosing Vit C and juicing. Now I started taking more, i'm up to about

3000 mgs a day and I can really feel the difference. I was thinking it

was psychosomatic but maybe there is some truth to it.

Just wondering if anyone else had positive vitamin C results?

I would if I could but it was too hard on my GI, including Emergen-C.

I have my wife taking 2 packs of it per day though. I'm using a

powdered C that Cheri found now and I seem to be tolerating around

500mg/day OK now. Every thyroid and adrenal book that I have read

says to take anywhere from 2 to 10g - that's grams, not milligrams,

per day which is a lot.

Is your wife still having the hives? I found out that I get eczema/hives

from emergenC, and eventually, after finding I'm allergic to quercetin,

from taking a quercetin only supplement, I noticed that at least some

flavors of emergenC contain quercetin. So another allergy mystery solved

(for me). And another bunch of relatively pricey stuff sitting here that

I paid for and can't take.

I also can't get above 500 to 1000 mg of C a day, in any form. Guess

I'll never know if I would have benefits from higher doses. It doesn't

hurt my stomach so much as it gives me the runs. This is another symptom

I hope will eventually resolve on HC and thyroid.
