DMPS is probably least likely to cause this of the three. I suggest you get on a good diet to minimize dysbiosis and get a good probiotic. This should help a lot. It is probably no consolation, but if you haven't had this problem until now you are lucky. I had major dysbiosis long before I ever heard of mercury problems and could not figure out what the heck was wrong with my gut. --

Sad to say I've had digestive distress for about 20 years. I had the whole workup when it started (loads of nonsense tests) and I got the diagnosis of " spastic colon " . I've been doing better (a little) eliminating gluten but it really flared up badly today. When that happens I want to die - it is the worst, most defeated feeling. On a whim, I mixed lemon juice and Real Salt in a glass of water and it almost immediately calmed my stomach a bit. I've been taking soil based probiotics and digestive enzymes so I'm distresed at this latest attack. Now I'm adding glutamine and Cream of Tartar. Jeez, when will it end?? I started to have minor problems last summer. Those problems became major when I had a sigmoidoscopy/ infection/ antibiotic. I've been having lots of joint pain and major dysbiosis too plus colon pain. What I am doing to try to get back to normal is following the specific carbohydrate diet. (I really was forced to because of how much pain I have been in lately). http://www.breakingtheviciouscycle.info/beginners_guide/beginners.htm > Does anyone know if dmps stirs up yeast/candida? > It isn't supposed to, at least not as much as DMSA. I think that the mercury kills some of the gut flora and some of the cells lining the gut as it moves through. I really don't think that my problem is yeast. I think it is overgrowth of 'bad' bacteria. J > Thanks, > Val >

I thought you were alot better? Val

Ah - so we've had a similar life of gut misery. My mother always told me the gut problems were genetic, and now I realize it's really a genetic propensity for poor metal detox. Maybe you need more or different probiotics than what you are taking. The salt and lemon idea makes some sense - glad that helped. The glutamine will heal a leaky gut, but won't do much for your flora balance as far as I know. I looked up the cream of tartar. Sounds sort of bogus to me. Have you heard reliable reports of people getting benefits from this? --

The first mistake was to go immediately to any of the SCD legal foods. It didn't help so I looked more closely and found the section of SCD for beginners. I limited myself to the beginner foods (basically chicken soup, cooked carrots, SCD yogurt, honey, unflav geletin with unsweetened fruit juice) and immediately started to get better. The second mistake was to start chelating again too soon. Everything was going good as long as I took the DMPS every 6 h. I missed a dose, didn't notice until after I took the next dose, and kept going. The next day I was back to where I started with pain, inflammation, frequency, etc etc. I stopped chelating, went to fluids only for some days, got real hungry, went to the SCD beginner diet again and I'm still having problems. The SCD diet says to stay on the beginner foods until all pain and cramping is gone. The good thing about the diet is that it does allow honey and fruit so I am able to satisfy my sugar cravings. There are absolutely no disaccharides or starches allowed. > I'm sorry to > hear that you're still in alot of pain... I thought you were alot > better? > The infection and antibiotics gave me a major setback. It looks like it will take some time to heal. Hope you are feeling better.
