RT3 test useless after being on T3-only, right?

I'm ordering up some new blood tests and just wanted to verify that an RT3 test

would be useless for me at this point - right? I've been on Cynomel only since

August of last year. Or have there been cases where it showed something useful

for someone on T3-only?

On T3 only the RT3 is likely to be below range and not tell you

O.k. this says a lot...I was at 75mcg when these labs were done, after 6 weeks on T3 only. Doc wants me to drop to 50 because RT3 is too low, but clearly I'm still HYPO and need more than 75mcg. I've been having the hard heartbeat--not fast, just HARD when it's time for a next dose. In fact, I tried to go to sleep last night without the last 6.25mcg at bedtime and woke up at 3:00 with heart pounding away. I lay there for an hour before I said "Enough of this" and took that extra 6.25mcg sublingually...About 10 minutes later my heart was beating normally and I slept peacefully the rest of the night. Where can I find documentation that will convince my doc that we don't need to worry about rt3 labs since I'm on t3 only? I don't think there is any evidence that we need rt3, period! Val had some good

posts about this, how it's an old thing left over from evolution.

At any rate, on educating your doc, probably easier to just go it alone like

most of the rest of us here.

I think the reason to check rt3 after being on t3 only is to be sure you actually cleared it. If you had other factors or weren't on enough you may not have cleared it from the receptors. I think the purpose of rt3 is to help regulate the thyroid if things get to high, like graves disease. You obviously don't want any rt3!

the whole point is to get your rt3 low. You can't have to low of rt3! You need ft3 over the range as per val. I don't where you can find documentation though.

the ratio needs to be above 20 the more above the better, but you don't need rt3. You really shouldn't have any if everything is working well. Rt3 at all is saying there is a reason for your body to try and block the use of the t3.
