Patient-Caregiver weekend in Orlando

Hi everyone,

I know I've asked this before (and I will ask it again as we get closer). Will everyone who is planning to attend the Patient Caregiver weekend in Orlando March 13-15 please post and let me know. The hotel is holding our rooms at the special rate until February 27th. Once your reservation is made, please e-mail Beth at mbmurtha@... so that I can notify the folks on the Caregivers side who are organizing this shindig!

CAREGIVER AND PATIENT WEEKEND - MARCH 13 TO 15 2009

We’ve booked a block of rooms at the Quality Inn Plaza at 9000

International Drive in Orlando. The rate is $69.00 a night plus tax,

which brings it to $78.87 a night. They have 3 pools, 2 of which are

heated. There is a restaurant which is open for breakfast and dinner.

Serving is buffet style. We are planning on having our Friday dinner

there as well as our Sunday breakfast and will be offered very

reasonable group rates for those meals, $11.00pp and $7.00pp

respectively. You have to tell them WHEN YOU MAKE THE

RESERVATION that you’re going to have these two buffets (order 2

breakfast and 2 dinner if there are two of you, etc.) in order to get this

group rate. Kids 9 and under eat free. It’s a beautiful hotel.

The weekend, remember, is March 13th to 15th, but the hotel will

extend the group rate to people who want to make more of a vacation

out of the trip – 3 days before and 3 days after our gathering. They

provide free scheduled shuttle service to Universal Studios, Sea World

and Wet-n-Wild, and, for a price, there is transportation to the Disney

parks. Transportation from the airport (Orlando International) to the

hotel can be arranged through Mears Transportation on the ground

level below baggage claim for $28 round trip or $17 each way (no

reservation is necessary).

The hotel will hold our rooms up until February 27th. We’ve put a hold

on only 20 rooms, so it is probably smart to book soon. Our reservation

is under Pulmonary Fibrosis Group with booking id number

8409. Please give the ID number so they can find our rooms easier. You

can call 1- or . You will need to tell them the

reservation is for the Quality Inn Plaza hotel. Don’t forget to tell them

ABOUT THE BUFFETS! We hope it’s not necessary, but with our

uncertain live you’ll be happy to know that you can cancel without

penalty up to 48 hrs. before your reservation is due to start.

Our plans are coming together for speakers/discussion groups as well.

We have a pulmonary rehab person, a nearly teen who will add a

different point of view, hospice, attorney, finanacial planning, oxygen

supplier and hopefully a physician that can answer all the questions

you haven't asked before.
