Guest guest
Today we had deer by our house but the dogs always chase them off. I love the deer and I wish the dogs would shut up! My daughter, Challis, has a visiting pheasant. It's a male and is apparently in love with her chickens. The pheasant struts and preens back and forth in front of the chicken fence. The hens think he's pretty spectacular because they are preening as well. Today he made it up and over the chicken fence! lolhug SharonThis email is a natural hand made product. Guest guest
that's a hoot about the pheasant and chickens~ my parents took in a turkey that the mother kept leaving behind in the orchard he worked part time. They raised it with some chicks and about 4 years + later he still thinks he's a chicken. this year a white pigeon has joined the flock for some reason and has been with them for over 6 months. Perhaps it is a new collaboration among the bird species in this tough economy lol.Dee

Guest guest
no other turkeys~ he was a little chick when mama would up and move on leaving him behind. twice they put him back with the group but she didn't care to have him but didn't beat him up either. Perhaps she had too many lol and knew my folks would take him in. Since it's not legal to keep wild turkeys they did try and then finally decided to at least help him by bringing him up with a handful of hen chicks which he still considers family and never left...which is probably good because they would likely kill him rather than accept him. season after season he never leaves~ he did try to roost in one of the trees surrounding the orchard & field the chicken coop is located in but decided he'd rather be on the roof of the hen house. funny guy. certain times of the year my mom, all of 5 ft, has to go out with a stick cause he's being an a** as she puts it and sort of attacking her with aggression. perhaps it is breeding season or something ? Guest guest
How funny! Does he have a roost in the chicken yard? We put up roosts for our turkeys (old dead tree branches) but the turkeys like to get up on the barn. One night they were on the roof of our house! lol SharonThis email is a natural hand made product.
