Guest guest
Lucy I never refrigerate my electrolyte drinks; I keep them in bottles on my kitchen counter, or with me wherever I am. Quite often that is outside in 90+ degree heat for several hours. And my stomach won't tolerate anything but lukewarm or room temperature anyway. I generally go through my bottles within 12 to 24 hours, and don't use honey, so never have to worry about it being safe. Now that I think about it, though, there shouldn't be anything in the SCD electrolyte recipe that could "spoil" even if you use honey. So no need to refrigerate, in my opinion. The only thing that has happened to me if I leave some electrolyte drink out on the counter more than 24 hours is some of the minerals "fall out" or settle to the bottom of the bottle. This doesn't happen with ELyte, by the way. I know it happens to me because I am often impatient and don't heat the water but just mix my mineral ingredients in the water while lukewarm -- so there isn't the ionic bonding that ELyte has. Doesn't bother me to see the sediment; I just shake my bottle a bit and guzzle the drink down. Kim M.
