Well, I am scared this may do permanent damage.... My Dr told me ALA was no stronger than vinegar....very mild..so I am perplexed. TK--- your doctor is an idiot like most. ala is an acid and can burn your throat which is why most people take it in capsule or tablet form or mixed with food. You left the capsule in your throat and it disolved there causing irritation and possibly depending on where it was stuck inhaled some of the powder when it was released. I have had them open prematurely and it is not comfortable. I have also inhaled a little of the powder when spliting capsules and it is bothersome also. > > This has only happened once before when I ate some HOT HOT red pepper oil, that had been sitting too long in a resturaunt. and while I was chelating. > > Also...I did keep to my dosage schedule this morning and nothing has happened since. > > Anyone?? > > ~Nahla > > > > >
Guest guest
Nahla, Sounds like this was due to the ALA being lodged in your esophagus. I'm sorry you had this experience. I have had problems due to the acidity of ALA and others have reported it as well. It is important to swallow it with plenty of water and make sure you get it down. You may even want to take it with an antacid for awhile, if only to help you get past this experience. To help with any remaining irritation or discomfort in your esophagus, you might want to try some slippery elm and/or DGL. -- > > > > Can I please get some help with this one because it scared me terribly. > > Last night I woke around 3 AM to take 2 capsules of DMSA/ALA 16 mg total. We took 's advice re: slippery elm and we are hooked on it for any sore throat/esosphagus/heartburn troubles. It's healing! We like to buy slippery elm in loose powder. NOW brand from iHerb dissolves nicely in water and is a good price. We add some to hot water, making it as thin or thick as you like it (tea or gruel or something in between). Sprinkle in a little cinnamon. Sweetner optional, of course. in Illinois, chelating adult and chelating 2 NT kids, round
