In light of the discussion concerning potassium and parethesias, does anyone

have any information concerning the supplementation of potassium?

I know to give with food and that large doses of potassium can be dangerous for

the heart. And that the best way is to give potassium rich foods such as fruits

and vegetables, but a small child just has so much room in their stomach.

We have also used a potassium salt substitute mixed 50/50 with regular salt, but

it seems she has a higher than normal requirement for potassium as do I. I

learned a long time ago not to binge on candy as it will reduce potassium (via

interfering with blood sugar levels) and I get excruitiating leg cramps that no

amount of magnesium or calcium will help.

So, with potassium supplements supplying a meager 99 mgs per tablet, how do you

get more potassium into a person? They are now recommending 4.6 grams of

potassium for an adult and that's a lot of fruits and vegetables. We're not

going to high dose anything until Andy has a chance to look at all of her labs,

etc, but I'm at a loss to figure out how to introduce more potassium.

Thanks,
