Guest guest
Tina Well, if I had a solution I'd sure share it since mine has been over 40 years and no doctors have ever had a solution. But mine has gotten worse the last four years in terms of sinus blockage. > > > > From: JOYCE RUDY > > Subject: Re: Breathing oxygen > > To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. com > > Date: Monday, January 12, 2009, 9:37 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Why thank you Beth! Guest guest
Hi Tina, I use a netti pot a LOT. When I am completely blocked the steam opens my up enough for the warm saline water to flush my sinuses. I keep salt in the bathroom and get the tap water hot enough to dissolve it. I use one full pot at a time. Warm water feels so good and opens me up. Hope this helps. I know that is miserable. Guest guest
Tina...have you tried Benzendrex, nasal decongestant inhaler w/medicated vapors? Boy this stuff works! Any drug store should have it. Don't take a great big whiff right off the bat. Do a smaller one and work up...it's pretty powerful...at least for me but I'm never stopped up like you describe. Since I started sleeping w/shoulders and head elevated I seldom have problems. Oh I hope this may be something you haven't tried yet and it will work. Also hoping all is not too shaky w/ Ebby. Guest guest
My sinus problems are pretty minor, but I find if I sip a cup of very hot water with a couple of tablespoons of Apple Cider Vinegar in it, it tends to clear me up. Guest guest
Sher, I've never heard of Benzendrex. Is it prescription or over-the-counter? If I can find it, I am going to buy it! My CPAP machine still gives me relief at night time. I guess the air pressure forces its way in! On another note, Ebby is still making my life complicated. He won't give up the custody fight, so we go back to court on February 23, 2009. Kaleb tells me he is going to tell the judge that he wants to stay with me and visit his dad in the summer. He's a very articulate child and I am sure he will make an impact on the judge. The Judge has already Ordered me to bring Kaleb to court on the court date because she will talk to him in chambers, without Ebby or I present. Also, I did finally get to go get my stuff in West Virginia and, needless to say since it's been over one year, I didn't get nearly all that belonged to me. All I wanted was what was mine before we were married, but he "hid" things and wouldn't allow me in certain rooms of the house. He also wouldn't allow anyone in the house to help me. So I had to lift and push furniture to the door where my movers were waiting for each piece of furniture! What a crazy fool! Child support finally starting coming - so money issues are letting up a little. The problem is that it took so long to get this started that I am going to be facing bankruptcy with my creditors. It's a shame that I relied on him and let myself be so vulnerable. Not so long ago I was an independent woman and was never, ever late on my bills! I am lucky that I have had family help to keep my fridge supplied, my prescriptions filled and support for Kaleb. I guess what hurts the most is that Ebby won't let Kaleb have the things that belonged to him (things that I purchased). His bicycle, his children's DVD collection, his book collections, his portable DVD player that we used when we traveled, and other misc. stuff. But, I have to move on and let this be a lesson. What doesn't kill me will only make me stronger! And...., we go on. Guest guest
Tina, Sorry to hear of your misery! I have been using the neti pot and I love it! I also take Mucinex-D (D stands for decongestant) every twelve hours). It comes in two formularies: 600 mg. and 1200 mg. The latter is called severe or something of the sort. Boy, does it work! Some of our boardies here have used an oxygen face mask instead of the cannula when their nose was so congested. Peggy cannot take Mucinex as she is allergic to guaifenesin. Good Luck, Tina! Hope you feel better! Toodles! Guest guest
Jane Good note on Mucinex D. I want to remind people that Mucinex has many very different products. Mucinex DM is the one for coughs and to clear mucus related to coughing. Mucinex D is the one for nasal and sinus congestion. Plain Mucinex is just for chest congestion but doesn't work for cough or sinuses. Mucinex also has two different nasal sprays for congestion. > > > > > > From: JOYCE RUDY > > > Subject: Re: Breathing oxygen > > > To: Breathe-Support@ yahoogroups. com > > > Date: Monday, January 12, 2009, 9:37 PM > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > Why thank you Beth! Guest guest
Bruce, Mucinex-D also clears chest congestion. It is good that there are so many Mucinex products to choose from as so many of us take so many different medications and the medicine may clash with other medications, etc. Toodles! Guest guest
Tina ... come to think of it... ( the Benzendrex) is made by the same company as AYR. It MAY have been inserted in the last box of AYR gel I bought. BTW, have you used AYR inhaler? Pretty good too. I'm hoping today brought you some relief. MamaSher, age 70. IPF 3-06, OR.
