I think you should read first but can you get a copy from a library for noe -

pecanbread.com wil explain a lot - any pasteurized milk will do - whole milk is

yummist - heat 1/2 gallon to 180then cool to 80 ish - and then add yog

starter(yogourmet) you can order it online or some use plain dannon as a starter

I believe- mix all and put in you roven with a 60 watt bulb and don't turn it on

just switch light on leave in 24-34 hours chill apx 6 hours- drip and enjoy :-)

knox gelatin is legal

hope this helps a bit

get to know the diet and go slow for best results - be vigilant!

still confused as to what milk to use. I live in a rural area so... things are

not that easy to get. As far as the dry cottage cheese, dont' know if I will

ever be able to find that. How about the geletin, I am not sure how to make

that either, any help would be great, be simple please.

OK, I am looking at this book as a doctor recommended it. I can't get the book until next week. Could someone give me a good easy yogurt recipe. I am still confused as to what milk to use. How about the geletin, I am not sure how to make that either, any help would be great, be simple please.I'm pretty sure there are instructions for yogurt on pecanbread.com. As for gelatin, I get knox gelatin and follow the instructions for 'knox blox' on the back. You just put however many cups of whatever legal juice you want in a saucepan with an equal amount of gelatin packets (i.e. 2 cups juice, 2 packets gelatin). Sprinkle the gelatin on top and when it's all congealed and stuff, heat it until you see bubbles. Then just put it in a dish/container of some sort, stick it in the fridge, and it will harden.I would like to get started before I get the book, but am confused on how to make this yogurt and the geletin, I think I can make the chicken soup though. Our library is very small, I checked, didn't even list the book. Thanks for sharing about the yogurt, can you add any flavor or do you just always eat it plain.

Many people find that when they are not spending money on sodas and junk

food, or stopping at fast food places all the time, that they have enough

money for the SCD foods. It's astounding how expensive McBurgers and

BKwiches have gotten!

Harry and I eat out once a week -- two burgers, a salad, and two drinks

run around $20. I can make the same meal with organic ingredients for

around $10-$15. Mainly because the cost of the drinks is so high.

<g> Maybe I should put the tip money from each meal I fix into a

fund to get me more kitchen gadgets!

Carol,

At the beginning, did you have D? If so, how long was it before you did not

have it anymore? I ask this because I'm not sure if I should start adding a new

food in every three days even though I still have D.

Thanks!

I’m embarrassed to say that because I did not do the intro

diet or stages I had D sporadically for 2 years after starting the diet! By sporadically

I mean a single event, with no blood, 2 or 3 times a week. I did finally discover

that the vitamins and herbal anti-inflammatory I was taking had illegals in

them, and I was taking them daily. Once I stopped those I never had D again.

I also must say that before I started SCD I had 15-20 bloody D

movements every day. It was absolutely horrible. I was so ill and had to

go to work every day so I could hold onto my health insurance. I really

don’t know how I did it. As soon as I started the SCD my bowel movements

improved, still had D, with much less frequency and no blood, and experienced

for the first time in years, formed BMs. That was the immediate effect of

the SCD, even though I did it “wrong”. So, I urge you to follow the

intro diet and go through the stages of new food introduction so that your gut

can begin to heal. Sounds like you are doing just that!
