Guest guest
Hi All, Just wanted to keep you updated. Just got a call from the nurse at the GYN office. She doesn't have my Pap back yet, but said there is a definite ovarian mass on the right ovary. They didn't have any studies to compare to, so they want me to have another ultrasound in a month to see if it is growing in size or not. My daughter just called and last week they had told her everything was okay with the baby from her HCG level. Anyhoo, she is about 7 weeks. They just called her today and told her they want her to have another sonogram before her appointment next week to make sure the pregnancy is viable. Now she is all upset again. What a day!! Hope you have a great weekend!!
Guest guest
Caro...aren't we glad that today only has 24 hours in it and then we get another jab at another day tomorrow? A mass on your ovary doesn't sound very good but if dr is waiting a month or so it must not look "Emergency"... Waiting is the hardest part! MamaSher, age 70. IPF 3-06, OR. Guest guest
That is what I keep telling myself, too, that it couldn't be that bad or they wouldn't make me wait. Though I am wondering if they will change their mind if my Pap comes back abnormal? Guess I just worry too much. Though, oh yeah, I am definitely glad to have a jab at another day!! Guest guest
Caro, Well I'm sorry to hear that there's a mass on your ovary but I agree that the fact that they want to wait and do another sonogram is probably a good thing. If they thought it looked like something dangerous they would have wanted to check it further now. I really think your daughter can relax for now. A repeat sono before her next appointment is pretty standard in her situation. I checked with my sister who is a high risk obstetrician and while she doesn't know the specifics of your daughters situation she said that another sonogram before her next app't doesn't mean anything is wrong, they are just checking. Guest guest
Thanks MB!! I tried to tell my daughter that, that it was probably just a followup and not to worry, but I guess she gets it from me, worry, worry, worry!! All it does is give you ulcers and more gray hair!! (Thank God for hair color in a bottle!!) I think she will be fine. I feel like since the blood test nearly tripled, and she has had no more bleeding, that the baby is probably fine. As far as the ovarian mass, I have a neighbor who had the same thing just a couple of months ago. She still had her uterus. She had a hysterectomy with ovaries removed (she had had breast cancer before and had undergone 19 months of chemo years ago). She is about my age, mid 40s. They removed her ovary (had told her it was a cyst) and it turned out to be a tumor and had they not removed it when they did, well you can guess the rest. I would rather them just go ahead and remove it, rather than take the chance. I already have enough going against me with the UIP, ya know? My pulmo said if I had to have surgery, he thought my lungs were stable enough right now to make it through it with 50% lung function. I would rather have it done now than wait until my lungs get worse and I may not be so lucky. Do you think I am jumping the gun or being safe rather than sorry later? If they thought it looked like something dangerous they would have wanted to check it further now. I really think your daughter can relax for now. A repeat sono before her next appointment is pretty standard in her situation. I checked with my sister who is a high risk obstetrician and while she doesn't know the specifics of your daughters situation she said that another sonogram before her next app't doesn't mean anything is wrong, they are just checking. You all are in my thoughts and prayers! What a day!!Hope you have a great weekend!!
