Guest guest
________________________________ From: Leigh Anne Bedrich RE: Stakeholder Meetings for DSHS Statewide Registry Project TO: NCTTRAC Members DUE: 17 June 2009, 8:00 am - 12:00 pm for EMS and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm for hospitals ACTION: Schedule in Calendar and Print Handouts The Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) is in the process of formally assessing the current EMS/Trauma Registry system. This assessment, called the Trauma Registry Improvement System Assessment (TRISA) Project, has stemmed from DSHS and stakeholder concerns over the integrity, usefulness and viability of the current system. As a final reminder, this Wednesday, June 17, is the only opportunity within TSA-E for input into the DSHS TRISA Project. June 17 Grapevine Convention Center Concord I 1209 South Main Street Grapevine, Texas 76051 http://maps.google.Grapvine http://maps.google.com/maps?f=d&source=s_d&saddr=&daddr=1209+South+Main +Street,+Grapevine,+Texas+76051&geocode=&hl=en&mra=ls&sll=37.0625,-95.67 7068&sspn=32.66491,54.931641&ie=UTF8&z=16> All EMS providers, trauma service providers, and any others interested in contributing to the development of the Texas EMS/Trauma Registry are encouraged to attend. In general, MTG will meet with EMS providers in the mornings from 8am-12pm and with hospital providers in the afternoons from 1pm-5pm. Lunch will be on your own, but there are many restaurants available in the immediate downtown Grapevine area. Please refer to the DSHS website for handout materials as MTG will NOT be providing copies at the meetings - http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/injury/review.shtm http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/injury/review.shtm> There was a meeting held recently in the Houston area and there were less than 10 EMS providers and only a handful of different hospitals represented. Comments from DSHS on the meeting in Houston were: While the attendance was a little less than anticipated, the individuals who participated were engaged in the meeting and provided valuable input. MTG is documenting the results and detailed analysis and information will be provided in the report deliverable. * MTG received positive feedback on the process after the session. Additionally, the DSHS program received positive feedback. The one concern from Mr. Rives, SouthEast Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council, was that the Houston Fire Department (HFD) did not attend because they are a big contributor and have a proprietary system. MTG will contact them and HFD has told that they will attend the Austin Session on July 13th. * The major lesson learned from the initial session is the need to reduce the apparent redundancy when reviewing the potential data requirements for EMS and Hospital stakeholders. Although the data fields are discrete, for the purposes of gathering requirements many can be combined. MTG has discussed this with DSHS and will make improvements for subsequent sessions. * Riippi and Brent Meadows will be conducting the next session in Harlingen on 6/8/09. Contact has been made with the facility to coordinate the meeting. San is scheduled for 6/12/09. Through the leadership of your Board of Directors, NCTTRAC is also working on a priority project to provide seamless input from your current registries into a regional registry for local reporting and management; however whatever solution agreed upon by NCTTRAC will also require interface with that chosen by Texas DSHS. Your input on both projects is encouraged and welcomed. There is also more information available, including other meeting dates and locations, on the DSHS website: http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/TraumaRegistryImprovProj.sh tm http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/emstraumasystems/TraumaRegistryImprovProj.s htm> LAB Leigh Anne Bedrich, LP, MA, EFO Emergency Healthcare Systems Program Manager North Central Texas Trauma Regional Advisory Council Metro: Direct: www.ncttrac.org http://www.ncttrac.org>
