Guest guest
Bob, For stress relief I assume you mean anxiety and opiates are NOT indicated for that at all, never mind what they will do to your bowel. The benzodiazepines, or Valium class of of drugs are indicated and the least offensive in the short term is Xanax. Stress can precipitate a flare, but it sounds like the Vicodin did it. Vicodin is indicated for pain relief only. Terry Lor-tabs... After eight years of remission thanks to Elaine my doctor prescribed Vicodin or Lor-Tabs, for stress. I had an immediate flare-up and discomfort. I need some anxiety relief...are opiates out? Or could it be all the Tylonol they are mixed with? Or just the stress itself in these tough times? Thanks, Bob

Thanks, Bob http://www.rxlist.com/vicodin-drug.htm Each VICODIN tablet contains: Hydrocodone Bitartrate 5 mg Acetaminophen 500 mg In addition each tablet contains the following inactive ingredients: colloidal silicon dioxide, starch, croscarmellose sodium, dibasic calcium phosphate, magnesium stearate, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, and stearic acid. Starch and croscarmellose sodium are both illegals -- I had this after my cancer surgery, and it gave me wretched gut cramps. — Marilyn New Orleans, Louisiana, USA Undiagnosed IBS since 1976, SCD since 2001 Darn Good SCD Cook No Human Children Shadow & Sunny Longhair Dachshund

Thanks, Bob > So sorry to hear of your flare. Can't help with meds for stress. Acupuncture did wonders for my stress worring about Kaitlyn's CD last year. Have you given this a try? Also try epsom salt baths when possible. Excercise also helped me. Hope you feel better soon! - Kaitlyn's Mom

Thanks, Bob > I am wondering why your Dr would prescribe a painkiller for anxiety. Lortab is hydrocodone, which is an anti-inflammatory painkiller. I take xanax as needed for anxiety and it works great. I do have to take it before bed so I don't fall asleep during the day.
