Guest guest
Is it at all possible for a person to begin the Virtual Walk early? I would like to be able to have the shirt and take donations at our Benefit Dinner, if possible. Also, who do I talk to about getting the PSC brochures? I'd like to have some for there, and some for 's clinic, though I have no idea how many would be appropriate, so I need some guidance. Thanks!! Amijmhatch39 wrote: Good morning! You can now register for the Second Annual VirtualWalk! The First Virtual Walk completed in April 2006 was so successfulin raising funds for PSC Research. We are hoping to raise even moremoney for research this year. For those new to the Virtual Walk: 100% of the donations from thiswalk go towards PSC research! You can participate from your home byasking family and friends for their support and donations via email orsnail mail. You can also walk through your neighborhood or at work. For those who may be hesitant to ask others for donations, I foundthat participating in this fundraiser was SO MUCH easier for me thanany other charitable cause I had worked with, because I was alsoeducating people about PSC, a rare, orphan disease with no cure. As Italked with people, I was educating and informing them and giving theman opportunity to help find a cure for PSC through their donation ofany amount. People were interested and their generosity wasoverwhelming. For those who hesitate to sign up as you might only have a few donors:please sign up! The more of us who participate, the better thisVirtual Walk will be! Last year about 51 people signed up. We arehopeful that many more of you will participate this year. Everysingle donor is valuable, every person who learns about PSC is valuable.Lee Bria coordinated the First Virtual Walk. This year, Lee and I areavailable to help you in any way we can. After you register, Lee willsend you your T Shirt for signatures (and pictures or messages fromyour donors), plus your packet will include sample letters/emails thatyou can personalize (often easier to modify than to start fromscratch). You will also receive the Thank You Letter to acknowledgeyour donors and give them the tax receipt information. Please feelfree to contact Lee or me. I'm sure other Virtual s from lastyear will also offer thoughts and advice to help this year's VirtualWalk be successful.Following is the Virtual Walk Introduction, posted on the PSC Partnersweb site. Look under Fundraising and you will find the registrationform, which you can send to me. The Virtual Walk also increases public knowledge andawareness about PSC. Last year the First Annual Virtual Walk raisedan astonishing $44,494.00. In January 2007, the formal announcementwas made that PSC Partners Seeking a Cure had donated $20,000 tocollaborate with the Foundation in a PSC research project, developing a patient registry.Everyone is welcome to participate in the 2007 Second Annual VirtualWalk. You can choose how you would like to participate: from yourcomputer via email, by mailing letters to friends, co-workers, andbusinesses in your community, or by walking in your neighborhood. You could stretch and be creative, like Mike Zaloudek's 260 milebicycle ride to Pittsburgh last April!Virtual s are encouraged to be as involved as you can, becauseeveryone's participation is valued. Many individuals raising a smallnumber of donations carries a large cumulative benefit to build thesuccess of this year's Virtual Walk.Registration materials are available on-line at the PSC web sitewww.pscpartners.org; under Virtual Walk.
