Guest guest
Well done, May!!!! I’m hoping to follow your great example in the weight loss department – I started my transplant evaluation process on Aug. 4th! My “homework” for my next appointment in September is to lose 5 pounds – overall they want me to lose 30 pounds. It is a bit of work, as I am still on prednisone, but I have manage to lose a bit and the exercise helps…that an no more ice cream every night…sigh. So, if I may ask…Celtic or Rangers??? J Cheers, Steve aka…Knip IPF Dx 09/07 confirmed via VATS 12/07 57 NH (New Hampshire for you outside of the US)
Guest guest
steve, i just had to refer your last question to andy, the hubby. Celtic he smiles. we live quite near rangers' football park in ibrox but he is a celtic man. his dad had season tickets and when he passed his mum kept them going and they all go often with their mum. andy loves what we call football (and you call soccer). he also trained to be a scottish football association referee and used to do the small boys on a saturday morning. andy has never had weight problems but his ankles are starting to give him trouble after all the years of booting balls. i have been eating a lot of soup and salad recently. i make my soup from various frozen veg with stock and spices. i have been trying to find things that i can eat all day. i'm not on pred so i sympathise. i start my exercises in bed when i awake. i do leg lifts and sometimes i go for a wee nap before i start the other leg. i have found this routine before arising gives my body an endorphin rush. when i get up i do my pulm rehab type exercises on my vibro plate. google body-tek. i love this machine and believe it has really helped. sometimes i just sit on it but my last exercise of the day - wait for it - is to get myself on this machine belly down on plate. very undignified and hard to get off of but i think it helps. i take a newspaper down with me. good luck with your 5 and 30lbs. i have another 20/25lbs too. may > > Well done, May!!!! > > > > I'm hoping to follow your great example in the weight loss department - I > started my transplant evaluation process on Aug. 4th! Guest guest
May (and hubby, Andy...) I have been playing footie ever since I was 5 years old. My dad was in the Air Force and posted to the UK from 1956-58. We lived in a small village called Steeple Bumpstead. Later, from 1971-74, I was in the Air Force and was posted at RAF Croughton, near Oxford. I played on the USAF UK and European American Forces championship soccer team. I was also a Coventry City season ticket holder...not quite as fashionable as Celtic, but I have remained a supporter all these years! When I came back to the States, I played in college, then coached at two different universities. I managed to keep playing until 4 years ago when I developed plantar faciatis in both feet...very painful! I have always loved the game of football - its proper name!!! Even named my son after my favorite player...Bobby Charlton. Andy will be interested to know that my old university team (school colors are green and white) wear the Celtic hoops for their home kit. Guest guest
steve just read your message to andy. he says the university team has good taste. andy has shin splints which are painful. we are curious to know what you think of david beckham. is he worth the money. will he increase interest in the sport in the usa? andy doesn't rate him as a player. may uip 0606 glasgow, scotland > > > > > > Well done, May!!!! > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm hoping to follow your great example in the weight loss > > department - I > > > started my transplant evaluation process on Aug. 4th! > > My " homework " for my > > > next appointment in September is to lose 5 pounds - overall they > > want me to > > > lose 30 pounds. Guest guest
Beckham has brought more attention to the league, but only to the casual observer and more as a celebrity rather than a footballer. At least, that's my opinion. The US league is actually pretty good...we have one of the better teams in my area - the New England Revolution - coached by someone that you may remember, Steve Nicol. His assistant is Mariner. Clint Dempsey, who now plays for Fulham, played for them, but sadly went off to the Premiership. Whether or not the team will get the return on their investment in Beckham remains to be seen. The team is at the bottom of the table, despite his presence, and both the coach and director were just fired. By the way, I do manage to keep getting my football fix...since I'm not able to work, I have become somewhat addicted to Football Manager 2008. I've even managed to get Coventry City into the Premiership!
