So today the craziest thing happened. A thrift store came to my house to pickup a piece of furniture that I have been ready for years to depart with. The guy came to my house and he asked for my help to hold the dolly in place sohe could get the piece on it.As he tilted the piece, 2 stone slates fell on my head from about 2.5 feet ofheight. I collapsed although I did not pass out. I was put into a state ofshock within minutes blood was absolutely everywhere. An ambulance had to come and take me to the ER!!! I got staples in my head as ihave a laceration. They were not worried about a concussion but I need to payattention the next couple of days if I feel some symptoms I need to go backimmediately to the hospital. I need to go back in 7 days to get the staplesremoved.Oh my goodness Jodi!!! You of all people don't need this on top of everything else!!!! What a freak thing. I am glad you don't have a concussion though =) Poor delivery guy, I'll bet he feels terrible. So I don't get why you would need a tetanus shot if you were hit by slate. Isn't tetanus only from rusty metal? I'm probably wrong though, I'm not quite a tetanus expert. You could just check with your doc and see how often you should be vaccinated, and if its more than every two years then you should be fine, since you got one two years ago. Right? I really have no clue. I'm glad you're okay though! Good luck with dealing with all that! Pour Dieu, pour terre,Alyssa =D

Hey Alyssa..

Thanks for the well wishes.

I have been to the ER a few times with a need for stitches (this body is held

together by threads LOL) anyway- they give tetanus for everything like wood,

metal (regardless if rusty), stone whatever.

I am feeling loads better.. sleep helped.

In my mind I am looking at it now as having staples both in my belly and head.

How is that for proving gut and psychology syndrome? LOL...

Singned off- hanging in there by the help of much titanium.

Actually not sure what the staples in my head are made out of?

Jodi, I joined this group, I believe, just after you came back from Israel and

have been blown away by the little I know that you've been through. This line

absolutely cracked me up!! I am glad you are feeling better overall, you know,

aside from the whole staples in the head thing, and I hope that gets better

quickly!! :)

,

It's nice being remembered in part for all of my disasters. LOL.

I am feeling loads better and thankfully the surgery is more and more becoming a

thing of the past!

BTW- I totally made myself chuckle too.. Isn't half the battle considered over

when you can make yourself laugh?

Actually, watching how everyone on here helped you through your disasters was so

impressive to me...Marilyn helping you with food ideas pre- and post- surgery,

etc. It showed me what a caring group this is!

And yes, I would say half the battle would be over if you can laugh. Just make

sure you go " low and slow " on those belly laughs or you might poke someone's eye

out with a flying staple...

I think so! I'm also glad that it hasn't caused a setback for you! You probably

freaked out the thrift store guy really good though. He might need to get PTSD

treatment ;-).

Hi Jodi,

Wow, that sounds awful!

I guess I would recommend you look into the potential consequences of not

getting the tetanus shot and weigh those risks vs. the perceived risk of the

tetanus shot.

Also, I assume you opted not to discuss your concerns with the doctor because

you didn't want to be pressured/hurried, which is understandable. (We've ALL

been there!) But when we shut out docs we also shut out their expertise, right?

Best of luck!

OMG Jodi!

Next time you try to kill yourself try to do a better job, would you? 5 slate stones from a height of 10 feet would have done the trick a lot better. You're getting sloppy!

Were the slates on top of the piece?

Tetanus lasts for 10 years. Clostridium tetani infects wounds. Causes lockjaw and attacks the central nervous system.

Your husband is right.

We knew you were a drama queen but this is getting ridiculous. Sheeesh!
