Guest guest
Joan,At my most untreated hypoT, I would go into the doctor and literally CRY for an hour at a time. This is so unlike me: I am normally very even-keeled in spite of a number of traumas in my life. The psychiatrist suggested trying Cytomel for resistant depression, but even when I was finally put on synthroid, it did not help as I wasn't converting. I am on only T.3 now and back to my old self, thank God! Don't think docs really recognize this for what it is. Claire"Is it just me, or does this rt3 thing (hypo thing) cause ridiculous and sporadic crying spells? For years I've had some mild "blues" type depression, but this is ridiculous. After the doctor took me off of my Naturethroid 3 weeks ago, it's steadily getting worse. A friend was going to send me some of HER Cytomel to tide me over until mine came in so I could start taking it, but it's been 5 mailing days, and still nothing! I'm about to lose it here! And still waiting for the doctor to get in and look at the latest lab tests. Ugh. I'm just ready to get started. Anyone got any words of wisdom or good advice? Comfort even? :)"
Guest guest
To add to my earlier post, this was not anything to do w/my hormones or monthly cycle, having already had a hysterectomy several years earlier and being stable on estradiol levels. I am only saying in my case, it was absolutely entirely low levels of thyroid and not converting. It was probably a RT3 problem, in retrospect, altho I don't think those tests were being done at that time.I can't say it disappeared overnight, but gradually over months of 30 mg hc and cynomel (but then I was a mess by then after years of not having thyroid treated plus pain issues). I do think the hc was also helpful for me, but my adrenals were trashed by then. I know it is hard, but if you have some cytomel/cynomel on the way, try to hang tough. I was in a lot of pain as well and so literally retreated to my bed. You are on the right forums to get appropriate thyroid help—I frankly owe Val for helping me regain my health, not doctors.Claire "At my most untreated hypoT, I would go into the doctor and literally CRY for an hour at a time. Guest guest
Amen to that! I have been through so much and hung tough the past ten years...very little crying and it burns me up to feel like this over-emotional wreck when there is no rational reason for it. So free t3 should actually be up over 400, Val? MIne was 291 BEFORE she took me off of Naturethroid! I SO appreciate you all sharing your feelings. One day when God sees fit to heal me of all of this, I would really like to write a book that deals with emotions and pain and all of the things in detail that we go through when we're dealing with this type of illness. Because one feels SO alone in this, and just to read that others have gone through what you are going through and have come out victorious is such an inspiration! We (I) never seem to realize or grasp it in my soul the depths of the horror that others have lived through. THANK YOU FOR SHARING!
