Community Resources for Adults with ASD Recorded on July 20, 2012; presented by Deborah Chin, B.A. This presentation will provide an overview of benefits, agencies, and other community resources which assist individuals with autism and other disabilities. Employment, leisure, healthcare, and other topics will be explored to identify community options to assist in providing support to and meeting the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorders as they embark on the transition to adulthood. Participants are encouraged to share resources that may benefit adults with autism. Together You & Me: Promoting Joint Engagement Skills in Young Children with ASD Recorded on July 27, 2012; presented by Lori Wise, M.S. Learn about the Together You & Me Playgroup model and the simple strategies parents can use to promote joint engagement and joint attention skills in their children. This discussion will focus on children ages 1-4 years old. Social Understanding for Individuals with ASD Recorded on August 3, 2012; presented by Green, M.S. Ed. Participants will explore the concept of social understanding and its relationship with social skills. Winner's Social Thinking ® curriculum will be discussed. Helpful terms and strategies will be presented. Broward Teen Time UM-NSU CARD is offering teens with Asperger Syndrome the opportunity to interact with other teens once a month.
