Guest guest
What your story is telling me is reducing the T4 initially helped your RT3 go down as it does. BUT you never fixzed the CAUSE of your Rt3 so when you try ot raiasew the natural wiht it's T4 your RT3 comes right back with a vengeance. I cannto use " ferritin is good " we need FULL IRON PANEL to really knwo what is going on and thta is where i htink you will find your issues. > 5/14/10- serum - on 1 grain NT & 17mcg Cytomel FT3: 228 (range: 230-420) this is pg/DL FT4: 0.5 (range: 0.8 1.8) RT3: 124 (range: 90-350) this is pg/ML FT3/RT3 ratio: ?? Guest guest
Sorry, Val. I posted here quite a few times before, and thought you might remember, since my case was unusual, and we'd discussed the iron thing several times. But, I SO understand that you deal with a zillion people, and how could you!!!!!!!!?!??!?!? My ferritin was low (6) did rounds of IV iron and got it up again. (to 189!). It then went down again to 56 and I got another round of IV iron so i could then try to increase the T3. We were in discussions then. I had a full iron panel when my ferritin was 6 - in 2008: Iron 87 (range: 40-175) TIBC 361 (range: 250-450) Transferrin Saturation 24 (range: 15-50) Ferritin 6 (range: 10-232) Thanks much, Carol > > What your story is telling me is reducing the T4 initially helped your RT3 go down as it does. Guest guest
Iron 87 (range: 40-175) TIBC 361 (range: 250-450) Transferrin Saturation 24 (range: 15-50) Ferritin 6 (range: 10-232) So how loing since the iron IV? Unless your T3 was in the upper part of it's range it wil have fallen again. T3 is what helps your body hold on to the iron. If it si the least bit low your RT3 will return which is why staying on just T3 is a better optionuntil you knwo your iron is solid and staying where ti shoudl be. -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

Guest guest
I just did an iron IV two months ago and it bumped the ferritin up to 90. And when I got the test back to verify it was up, I tried to increase T3 in tolerable increments with your help and still my temp would drop afterward, even though morning temp was staying consistent over days. And my brain fog was/is horrific. I was/am on Cortef to support my adrenals. (at the time I was trying to increase, it was 27mg, in divided dose, per your advice.) My T3 has NEVER gotten past the mid range. Ever, since I've been monitoring it. (in the past, nobody told me it was an issue. in fact, even the good docs don't seem so concerned about it. thanks to you, val, i understand how it needs to be at the upper end of the range and if T4 is low when it's not in the upper end of the range, as is now, then that isn't okay, as it is when T3 is at the upper end. did i just make sense?? i did in my brain fogged head!) > > Iron 87 (range: 40-175) > TIBC 361 (range: 250-450) > Transferrin Saturation 24 (range: 15-50) > Ferritin 6 (range: 10-232) > > So how loing since the iron IV? Guest guest
OK then if the temps dropping ios the only symptom have oyu tried to rise it out? At first mine would drop for a few days then come back up once my adrenals adapted to the new routine., -- http://nthadrenalsweb.org/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/NaturalThyroidHormonesADRENALS/ http://faqhelp.webs.com/ http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/RT3_T3/ http://www.thyroid-rt3.com/ http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HypoPets/ http://www.stopthethyroidmadness.com/

Guest guest
I'll try that. Though, my other symptoms was increased brain fog - bad, bad, bad. And my hands would go stone cold (though it's good that my hands can now get warm every once in a while. They used to never do that.) Brain fog/difficulty information processing, etc. is my worse sx. Losing my life because of it. I saw my doc today and showed him the new labs + old ones. He's progressive as can be and thinks functionally and STILL said I should raise my NT, not my T3 to get my T4 and T3 up. OY!!! I explained the Rt3/ft3 ratio and he said he got it, but said I might've reset the set point and need to start from where I am now. Needless to say, I'm not going to do it. I'm so disappointed. He's a VERY open doc and does so many alternative things. He's TOTALLY on board with how i'm dosing my cortef and is prescribing it for me. Anyway, Val if you think it's worth trying to raise again now, I will... ~ Carol > > OK then if the temps dropping ios the only symptom have oyu tried to > rise it out?
