Guest guest
SoI got in with a " specialist " (ob/gyn, endocroninology, etc.) who responded to my email about treating RT3 and adrenal fatigue in the affirmative. She seemed to focus more on my overall health, besides thyroid and is testing me for: lymes, mercury toxicity, gluten sensitivity, parasites and thyroid antibodies. She said my ferritin of 18 was " normal " for pregnancy (even though I told her that I've been supplementing 200 mg/iron a day plus the red meat, molasses, and chlorophyll). She then agreed to give me a 62.5 mg shot of iron. Will that even make a difference? She also thought my dose of HC (32.5mg) was a high dose but did agree that I had " adrenal insufficiency " before I began HC. All of this to say, that I spent $500 for today's appt. (she doesn't take insurance but I may submit her form to see if I'll be reimbursed), plus $270 for the lymes test and a slew of other labs (that hopefully my insurance will cover most of). I'm thinking now that once these results are in, if I am negative for most, the best way to go is by doing my own labs, having phone consults with Val, and going from there. She did not even want to do another RT3 test or ask me how long I've been on T3 this time around. I told her my heart palps were better the last few days since I lowered my T3 dose (thanks to Val's insight from my last labs that it was pooling due to low ferritin). I'm beginning to think that finding a good doctor is pretty close to impossible. But, boy it is an expensive thing to learn! in CA
