I've heard both terms used, just not sure where they came from. Thanks for your help. Neil
Guest guest
The only thing I have been able to find is from an LAFD training bulletin on the use of a stair chair. This reads: " The practice of walking patients, carrying them 'Georgia-street,' or using available furniture is strongly discouraged. " In the context, I would speculate that the reference would be to carrying patients unsupported. Unless we want to call LAFD and ask, though, I don't know how to check that. Wonder if it had any relationship to Georgia Street Receiving Hospital (which doesn't exist any more - closed in 1957)?
