cost of this WOL <<long>>

I went shopping at Sam's today and spent $200! When I started looking at the food purchases I found I spent $107 of the total on food. For that I got: 4 chickens two are roasting as I write this I will freeze them and re-heat as needed. Two large roast, one for company and one to cook and have cold meat for snacks on hand. 40 pre-made all beef patties for quick suppers when DH is working. Four servings stuffed salmon, that I will cook an freeze for work lunches. Three boxes of shrimp that I will separate and add to frozen veggies for work lunches, I usually get at least four meals per box. A large package of six sirloin steaks I will marinate and freeze for quick meals and 4 pounds of butter.Oh, yea $16 of it was for a box of lo-carb bars that I thought was supposed to be $10!!!!!! I'd say the meat will last at least 3 weeks probably longer. I will say this almost all of the meat was at reduced prices, which is one reason I will freeze as soon as possible. I have a vacuum sealer so it will retain the flavor and help with the marinating.

My point is almost half of my bill was for non-people food and other merchandise. LOL I also spent over $50 on food for my dogs! They eat as richly as I!! The rest was on frivolous stuff like a Titans sweatshirt for me and 2 cases of sun drop soda for DH and $15.25 for our county and state coffers to the tune of 8.25% on all items in my cart!

I realize this did not include any veggies but I don't always buy them in bulk. I do have a well stocked freezer that I add to as sales allow. I also have my own stock of venison DH shot last fall. The vacuum sealer is a life saver there, the meat can be kept up til two years without loss of flavor....

I have been shopping like this for almost a year now. When I hit the grocery store for canned veggies corn and green beans for DH, I was in shock. 59 to .79 for one can. I must have been on another planet while he was gone....LOL

If you made it this far I'm surprised!!!!!
