I was there yesterday when they were filming the news. It's was my second time.

The kids had a good time but the manager/owner it's very rude with everybody. He

was complaining because the people in charge of the group were changing diapers

to big kids in the bathroom....

We need to do something about it.

My children were in the camp that was kicked out and I won't tolerate my children being looked down on, talked down too, kicked out or mistreated for having challenges, including the people caring for them. Even this man's employees told the staff at ARC that this man was talking negatively about them way before the bathroom situation. And he was saying things that couldn't be repeated to me without tears from the staff. I've filed a complaint with the state.

I don't think these people behave this way only with autistic kids. I think it

is with all of their customers.

I went to Funtastic on 2 occasions. Once with my typical, non-autistic son and

once with my autistic son. Both times, I felt the management was unfriendly.

It was as if they didn't understand how kids behave, especially when they are

excited and having fun. I am what a lot of parents consider strict and

conservative in what I allow my kids to do, but the manager told me that my

typical child was " moving too quickly around the room. " He was having fun an

yes he was walking quickly, but he was not running or bumping into others. With

my autistic son, one of the employees kept following us around the place like we

were doing something wrong.

Maybe these people are poorly trained or need to take a child development

course.

As to the post of " What are we going to do... " " We should get them shut

down... " I think if you sit back, relax and wait, they will simply put

themselves out of business. If you treat your customers poorly, they will stop

coming to your business, and suddenly you are out of business. They will either

learn to treat their customers well, or they will end up losing them.

Could the CARD center get involved and provide them with some infomation on handling people with Special Needs. This situtaton actually violates the ADA (Americans With Disabliities Act).

Some from the community reached out to him and told him that all of this would go away if he asked the community for education and he called the man stupid and hung up on. he's not interested in correcting the situation. he seems to have no remorse at all.

I think there is a need to stop making excuses for our children.They are what they are. Certain establishments need to accomodate all kinds of children and special needs children are not an exception. They have civil rights that should be enforced. Perhaps they should not have left when they were told to do so.We will never adequately cover the awareness issue if we keep leaving the issue to fend for itself. I know that the establishments are checked out prior to the field trips and management are advised. Some places may seem like a good fit and then they turn out terrible for our kids. So, usually by word of mouth, the establishments lose credibility and much needed funds from other camps/families. I'm sure this manager will be looking for another job soon.
