Moving to NEW YORK: Please HELP

Good afternoon, Group: I recently moved to NJ (trying to get better services for my 21 y.o. son); I have only been here for a few weeks, but I am now considering wether I should move directly to NY instead. Does any one know of someone who has moved to NY and/or can they recommend how to obtain more information? I want to make an educated decision, before I spend monies on my move. PLEASE HELP.......(I am a single mom, and don't know where to start). Many thanks!
