Guest guest
Independence High School/Jr high is not a charter school-but you can access the McKay Scholarship through the public school you are enrolled in.The school is located in Ft Lauderdale-It is a small school and offers individualized ed options. The two teacher that run the school are amazing and My son and daughter have been enrolled since 2009-they have made progress in all areas.Of course, ASP-is so wide spread that what makes a good match for my guys-may not be right for yours. I encourage anyone looking for a school in Broward county to email these ladies and set up a tour & interview to see if this is a good match for you. Below plz find the contact info: Terri (tjjones8201@...) Janet Ohlrich (ohlrichj@...) Guest guest
Yes- But in this world of spectrum disorder-what is high functioning? (At school age?) The teachers will give a basic skills test to see basic academic level. They will sit and informally chat with you and your son to get to know both of you to see what you are looking for in a school program. This school is a safe haven for my kids-I never have to worry about them sitting idle, being bullied or verbal abuse from the teachers. When they bring home the work they have done at school-It’s perfect-life skills related tied to academic skills they need on the academic level-notes on the page whether it was done Independently or w/assist. -I highly recommend at least calling the school to discuss what you what to get out of the program for your child- (this goes for anyone who has a child & not only for this school for any school)I can vouch for these women-if they feel they can help your child meet their social & educational goals they will be honest with you- if they can help your child grow they will tell you and if they feel that they cannot meet the needs of your child they will also let you know. I have had so many bad experiences that when I have a good one I love to share.
